Subject: Poser 11.2 vwey slow after windows 10 Update (KB4601319)

joker2000 ( ) posted Tue, 16 February 2021 at 6:36 AM ยท edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 7:42 AM

The Windows Update makes Poser 11.2 very slow. It's not usable anymore. So I tryied to upadate to 11.3. But its' not an update. I must deainstall poser 11.2 first. So all plugins like DSON are away?

joker2000 ( ) posted Tue, 16 February 2021 at 8:04 AM

I made the update to Poser 11.3 now. But it's the same issue. Poser is very slow in material editor for example with the last MS windows 10 Security Update (KB4601319)

NobbyC ( ) posted Wed, 17 February 2021 at 12:48 AM

joker2000 ( ) posted Wed, 17 February 2021 at 2:20 AM

Ich habe dieses Windows Update (KB4601319) wieder deinstalliert. Jetzt lรคuft Poser wieder normal.

Yes if I unistall this KB4601319 Update, Poser 11 is fast again, But it automaticly installs it the Update again later. I must stopp updates at all, but this works also only for some weeks. After a few weeks I am faced with the same problem again. I'm afraid someday it's not possible anymore to uninstall this update.

Do you also have this issue with this KB4601319 Update on windows 10? Wich grafic card do you use. I suspect that it has to do with the grafic card or with the driver. I use Nividia Geforce GTX 1060 6GB. I made an update of the driver also and the issue was even worse. So I also unsinstalled this grafic card update again.

Poser Support just tell me Poser 11 is no longer supported and they don't know nothing about this issue. But it seams I am no longer alone with this problem.

joker2000 ( ) posted Tue, 23 March 2021 at 6:30 AM

I made the windows update procedure again. After the Windows update Poser was very slow again in the material editor. I figured out wich update it is now it's KB5000802 (Betriebssystembuilds 19041.867 und 19042.867) you must uninstall.

But I am afraid I can't use Poser 11 for long time anymore. And I realy would not buy poser 12. I don't trust Poser anymore. What if Poser 13 comes out. They will let all the users of Poser 12 standing in the rain again like they do it with poser 11 users. I don't need that again

I'm happy that I can use DAZ Studio and Blender the longer the better.

@ joker

you can turn off the updates in Win 10 by going to services turning it off there ....

Step 1: Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services. In the Services window, scroll down and select Windows Update.

Step 2: Right-click and select Properties.

select services.jpg

Step 3: Under the General tab > Startup Type, select disabled. That will take care of Windows Updates not being installed on your machine.

I am still using Poser 11.1 and there was not any slowdown I guess it is an issue that happen when Bondware was toying around and making there changes to it, integrating renderosity store to the libraries. the moment Bondware got hands on poser they ruined allot of features not to mention the Desaster with Pyton support that you need a third Party app to keep em running . I still have every Poser running since release and they all work like a charm with exception of the Bondware versions ! It is where the Problems really start.

joker2000 ( ) posted Thu, 25 March 2021 at 4:16 AM

Thank you for the tip with stopping updates. But Windows is not secure anymore if you stopp updating at all. I use the PC not only for Poser.

How can I use Poser 11.1 again? I thougtit's not pรผossible because of the licence? I use Poser 11.2 Is possible to go back to Poser 11.1?

It's so sad with this Poser Software. I reported my issues to the Support. They just tell me Poset 11 is no longer supported and it must be an issue of my PC. But Blender and DAZ works with no problems. I have a fast PC with 128GB RAM and no other issues with any other software. I also installed Poser on an other PC and made the new Windows update there. The same issue with poser slowing down too.

I will loose all my work of the last years if Poser don't work anymore. I can't finish my comix with my Genesis 2 figures if I can't find a way to keep poser running on my PC with the new Windows updates.

there are few ways to get poser 11.1 back ... first would be to ask SM kindly to send you the offline activator or a infinite licenced Poser version. SM had the Offline activator running for a while until Renderosity noticed it and made sure they take it down ! After contacting some Professors on the DukeLaw University it was said that something could be done against it . But if you are not a American Citizen it would be rather hard and also due the Corona these years Possibilities are Limited.

the second option if it fails with Diplomatic solutions you just get a " Core " offline activator that works with your Legal Purchased Licence key reactivating Poser. In case that you get another forced shutdown the Host causing it can be traced :) but I doubt that it would happen!

either way as you Purchased a Licence at the time at SM there is not legal rights to make a forced shutdown , stopping support is not an excuse also it is not a excuse that SM sold your Licence and Information to Bondware so Bondware has no legal rights shutting down what you Purchased at Smith Micro. Would Bondware shut down your SM Poser version then it would be considered as a Hacker attempt. So again I doubt that they take such a risk ! Bondware tries to save Poser and does not want to hit further nails into that coffin.

I'm Swiss, so it is probably difficult for legal steps.

But apparently I'm not the only one with this slow-down problem. I had made all updates including the optional ones on March 23rd, 2021. After that, the problem was worse than ever. Even without a loaded scene, the material editor only reacts every second only. When I render, it only shows the image when it has finished rendering and no longer during rendering.

It is only due to the update KB5000802 (builds 19041.867 and 19042.867). As soon as I uninstall this specific update, Poser works fast again. I have now suspended updates until April 27th, 2021. Let's see what happens then. It is also possible that Microsoft will solve the problem on its own till then, but that's not sure.

It would be interesting how many users have this issue in Poser 11.2/3. Maybe we can put pressure on Bondware together to get a working poser 11 version. However, Poser 11.3 works even worse for me. The DSON importer causes Poser crashes in Poser 11.3 as soon I delete G2 figure or somtimes when I save the file with G2 figures in the secne. So I need a working Poser 11.1 oder 11.2.

joker2000 ( ) posted Sun, 28 March 2021 at 5:02 AM

And another question is, does a responsible supporter really get in touch on this topic here? I thought this was the official forum for Poser 11 pro technical issues?

Azath ( ) posted Sun, 28 March 2021 at 5:22 AM

Honestly , allot of people had and have issues ! more then half for sure, most just dropped Poser in a silent way, allot started off with DS , there at least they can still use most of the Models they Purchased. Allot others like you still try to figure a solution, but they do it without even making Renderosity aware of it ( Not worth it for now as Smith micro blames Bondware and Bondware Smth Micro ) a simple strategic way avoiding trouble. A Rat Tail , Good Creators stopp supporting Poser due incompatibility making good quality meshes that work in Poser ----> Customers have only minor quality meshes they can buy -----> Customers and Creators start using Programs that offer the actual standards. Not even the Flag ship Millennium's are further supported most will cause issues in future development of Poser 12 that is still in construction after a half year.

Normally you note the Marketing Position and interest of a digital Program or File if there is a Hack, in case of Poser 11.2 - 12 there is not further Interest for Coders creating any Medicine ( Not that it would not be Possible ) this already means that these Versions are Ignored ( Out of Interest ) and will Die.

Putting energy here trying to bring something back that they try to crash by force is not worth it! then just take the alternative 2ond PP11.1 solution save your legal acquired Licence and continue using your Purchased Products , it does not bring new Users but at least you are able to use your Investments made throughout the past decades.

Azath ( ) posted Sun, 28 March 2021 at 8:12 AM ยท edited Sun, 28 March 2021 at 8:20 AM

@ Joker

Check your site Mail !

you can also turn off the Windows Search in the Services this might speed up your process with large Programs like Poser DS etc.

Like I said Smith micro will send you to Bondware on this Issue and Bondware will tell you to contact Smith micro. but at the end it is Smith micro who is in charge for Poser 11.1 as you have a contract with them Bondware never sold Poser V 11.1 If SM sold your Licence to Bondware without your Knowledge and there would be a Claim then you need to attack SM , SM will have to check the contracts with Bondware and blame each others for whom has responsibility for what . Poser was not a Lease when you bought it from SM so no matter what, you have all the rights to claim what you Payed for Standing under full Costumer Protection.

Wither or not software pirates make a working patch for a product, does not influence normal law abiding people that look for a piece of software they want to buy to do a specific function. Stick to DAZ. All their products hit the pirate sites as soon as they are released. That will solve your problem. No need to cry about Poser not having "medicine." All that pirate gold works just fine with the pirate versions of Character Creator. That or stick to the pirated version of P11. These types of conversations were one of the reasons the damn "call home" feature was implemented in the first place. Thank you for your service.

joker2000 ( ) posted Mon, 29 March 2021 at 7:26 AM ยท edited Mon, 29 March 2021 at 7:26 AM

I tried Posser 11.1. It's the same issue. Slow material editor. Also if I a make a complete new installation without any additional scripts like DSON importer or so.

But it seems not everbody has this slow down issue with the newest windows updates. So the question is, what is the reason?

CPU? I use AMD CPU Threadripper.

Grafic card? i use Nividia GeForce GTX 1060 and 660ti

I'm more and more pessimistic to solve this issue. But I will try to install Poser on other PCs maybe I can find out what's the reason.

joker2000 ( ) posted Mon, 29 March 2021 at 8:19 AM

The call home function doesn't bother me, I have paid for everything I use. Since the P11.1 version has the same malfunction as P11.2, I now use P11.2

I just want to find out where the problem is with this slow down of poser. Otherwise I won't be able to use Poser anymore. I will then neither advise Poser users nor buy any content for Poser nor recommend Poser to anyone. Bondware support just left me out in the rain.

joker2000 ( ) posted Mon, 29 March 2021 at 11:23 AM

In between I installed the trial version of Poser 12 and there is the same issue. Slowing down the material editor as soon I make the newest updates of windows 10. So not even Poser 12 is the solution. But It works again if I uninstall the KB5000808 security update again.

I tested this now on 3 different PCs 2 PCs with AMD processors and 1 Notebook with Intel i7. On the notebook the Installation is also without any scripts or plugins. But Poser support want to tell me I am the only one with this issue? Maybe the issue is no problem if you have just loaded 2 figures and a cube. But in complexer scenes poser is not usable anymore. When I think how fast Blender is I realy just can say, so let Poser die, if the support is to leazy to take care of this problem. I definitely don't bother with it for much longer and concentrate on the future with DAZ and Blender

I'm using both P11 and 12 on the latest version of windows. I'm not having that problem, even though I do crowd scenes. But there are some things I do because my computer is old and not very powerful anymore. Maybe some of these might help you.

  1. I turn off the hardware shading in the preview mode.

  2. For every material zone, I close every preview on every node. (the little eye in the corner of each node) I've had to do for quite a while. I only use one if I need to check the shader. It's not accurate in superfly most times anyhow.

  3. I hide everything in the scene I'm not working on. This is something I do whether or not I'm in the material room.

Since this only started after this update, maybe look to see if something was added and running that was previously turned off and see if you can turn it back off.

@redPhantom

Thank you ver much for your tips. I know this tricks, but unfortunately they do not fix my problem

The slow down effect is already evident in the simple start scene. It is subtle but makes poser useless for my complex scenes.

The difference before and after the update is that if I move the shadernode here with the mouse like the red arrow line, it moves with 30 frames/s before the update but after the update it moves only with 10 frames/s. the movement is no longer fluid and becomes jerky after the updates. In Complex scenes I have to be happy if it still reacts at all.

Already when starting up or when switching around in the Poser's material editor, I notice that everything is only half as fast. But rendering or moving the camera in preview mode is still normal fast. It mainly affects the reaction time of material editor. This slowdown is also with Poser 12 in clean new installation and on all PCs that I have tested so far. In the meantime, I just assume that it just doesn't bother people because they don't have really heavy scenes. I work at scenes with up to 1.5GB filesize. So Poser is not usable for me anymore if it slows down. The future is more complex scenes not less complex. Poser should get faster not slower.

Have you ever tried to add this line into the Host file ?

127.0.0.1 www.renderosity.com

This might be the trick to speed back up Poser and if then you know what or who is using up all the resources :)

it was already a known Issue that there was a Loss of Speed in Poser 11.2 after integration of Rendo Store into Poser of about 20% or more so we might just search the error on the wrong Place ! Not to mention the Random Call home and each time you start Poser the New Licence that gets generated. All this stuff is accessing Ports and naturally causing your security to make additional checks . ( Just a Theory )

Window Security also got Updated ! it slowed down allot of stuff on Win 10 so if a website is accessing big time your Program while running it can cause a strong slowdown, also depending what method is used . There are methods by using CMD to track down the issues. Try shutting down certain new added Win Security features !

yes, currently it is the security update KB 5000808 which slows down the Poser. As soon as I uninstall it, Poser is back to normal. I did the research, this update also causes other problems e.g. when printing or even causes bluescreens for some. Maybe Microsoft will fix these problems. At the moment I can still uninstall this update.

I have now determined, it affects all Poser versions 11 and 12 on all PCs on which I have tested it. The slowdown is only problematic with complex scenes from 400MB. If the problem is not solved or if I should not be able to uninstall the corresponding updates at some point, Poser will finally be unusable for me, including Poser 12.

Either way, I'll switch to Blender in the long run, that was clear to me as far as I know that Poser 12 no longer supports the Genesis figures. Genesis 2-8 are now being put into the blender.

joker2000 ( ) posted Sun, 04 April 2021 at 1:30 AM

It has also been called KB4601319 or KB5000802. It also depends on your Windows version. The update was changed over and over again. Maybe Microsift has even withdrawn it in the meantime.

I have suspended my updates until the end of April, after which I will see what has been done in between

joker2000 ( ) posted Tue, 27 April 2021 at 5:31 AM

So it's clear now. Poser is dead for me. I can't unsinstall this last update (KB5001330) anymore now. Poser is to slow for me to work with compex scenes now. Maybe Microsoft will solve thi sissue anytime. Because also many other people has this performance issue with games and other software with this update. But I'm sure Poser will not solve thi sissue. And for me it's better I forget Poser and will work with DAZ and Blender only. Why should I mess around with Poser software any longer.

While I understand your frustration, if this is happening on multiple versions of Poser and with other software for other people and it was a Windows updated that caused it, I think it's likely that the Poser team can't fix it. At best they'd have to create a workaround. You probably should be talking to Microsoft, where the problem originated.

Yes the Poser Team will not fix this issue in Poser 11.2. I also don't think that Microsoft will do anything for me.

I have finished with Poser emotionally and concentrate to Blender. Blender comes with improvements and new tools almost every month. I have known that Poser has no future for me since it became clear that the Genesis figures in Poser 12 will no longer work. Since there is now a way to get Genesis figures into Blender, I'm actually happy. Blender is simply exiting how fast you can work and what opportunities you have there. Blender is open source, with a large community, it doesn't die so quickly because there are so many clever minds involved.

In my case Poser was getting slower and slower with each windows update. Inbetween this click issue is 10 times slower then before. When I click in on a G2 figure in the Hierarchy poser needs around 1 minute till it has done this click before I can go on with working. No other software has this issue. Blender and DAZ are working still perfect with all this updates. I don't see any solution for Poser

Since the posting of my earlier "fix", other updates to Windows have returned my own copy of Poser 11 to such slowed functionality that with DAZ gen 4 figures things are as slow as they were before. I guess it is finally time to eithr buy Poser 12, or learn how to use DAZ, which I hate due to its horrible interface and inability to install content to anything other than C drive without requiring massive and constant modifications. Or maybe just time to find a new hobby.

For me the solution is Blender. The workflow and the possibilities are better by dimensions. And it is now possible with the Diffeo DAZ importer (https://diffeomorphic.blogspot.com/p/daz-importer-version-15.html) to import all Genesis figures. The handling of the figures is a bit more complicated and the importer is not fully developed either. But Blender is just fantastic
