Subject: Poser 11.3 Does Not Work

Badia01 ( ) posted Thu, 06 May 2021 at 8:54 PM · edited Sun, 24 November 2024 at 1:02 AM

Well, I purchased a new PC hoping to have better Poser experience with a faster processor, high end screen, SSD and the latest graphics card.

Murphy’s Law …

I downloaded and installed the current version of Poser 11.3.

Launched it and the preview screen is blank.

My new PC is an HP Spectre with the latest 11 Gen Intel processor and Intel Iris GPU. Intel® Core™ i7-1165G7 (up to 4.7 GHz, 12 MB L3 cache, 4 cores) + 16 GB (onboard) + Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics (AMOLED). It has a 1 TB SSD. On paper Poser 11.3 should run much better than it did on my old PC.

Libraries are VERY slow to load, slow to the point that my machine locks up and I have to resort to using the power button to restart the machine. No CTRL+ALT+DEL. Nothing I load appears in the Preview/Pose window. Just a blank screen

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what it is, but could be that the graphic card is not support correctly by Poser, since it just shows a black screen, the library might be slow as well, if it have issues showing the thumbnails.

Can you see the graphic card in the render settings? meaning can you select it there?

Alternatively, which is a bit more technical. But if you have a none onboard graphic card from your old computer you can try to install that in the new one if it fits and see if that works.

The 'HP Spectre' seems to be a laptop.

The new Intel's mobile integrated graphics (www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/?generation=Iris+Xe+Graphics-M&sort=generation) support OpenGL, there shouldn't be any issues with displaying Poser's UI. Bear in mind it does not support nVIDIA's CUDA.

Check your Poser's 'Display/Preview Drawing' setup. It can be toggled by 'Alt-Ctrl-O / Alt-Ctr-S'.

You may also uncheck 'Edit/General Preferences/Library/Indexing/Refresh on Launch' box.

Have some patience before the hitting power button, even when working under Win 10.

Also my two cents: If this is your first time loading the program, it's gonna index your library(/ies). Depending on how large it is/they are, it's gonna hang a while.

If you have waited for it to finish indexing, closed Poser, rebooted your system and that keeps happening, then I don't know.

jarek2001, changing the Display/Preview Options from OpenGL to SreeD software (whatever SreeD is???) seemed to fix my issue. I suspect that the OpenGL that my new Intel itegrated graphics support will need some adjustment. But, thanks again for the solution!!!
