Poser 12 F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 07 3:56 pm)
Welcome to the Poser Forums! Need help with these versions, advice on upgrading? Etc...you've arrived at the right place!
Looking for Poser Tutorials? Find those HERE
I think there was a Thread a few month ago but can’t find it in the hurry!
But I had copied the Important lines of the thread ( I think the original thread was from Bagginsbill)
So here is the solution:
Exit Poser if it's running. Find your poser.ini - the path may differ for you - mine is in c:/Users//AppData/Roaming/Poser Pro/10
In your poser.ini
then look for
LIBRARY_EMBEDDED_TYPE 0
and change the 0 to a 1.
For Poser Pro 2014, you'd need to choose the embedded library as well with this line:
LIBRARY_IS_AIR 0
Finally open your poser Preferences and set the Launch behavior to external
I hope this will help Thank’s are going to Bagginsbill who posted this before I think.
Thanks, that was one of them. Making the changes you noted, which ring a loud bell, the first two chjanges (in Poser.ini) , i.e.
LIBRARY_EMBEDDED_TYPE 1
LIBRARY_IS_AIR 0
give me this when I run Poser:
Then if I change Launch Behaviour to 'External' and restart I get this:
Which doesn't inspire me with confidence.

I recall that there was at least one free Poser library manager program which you could install separately. I was looking at the website for it a couple of months ago, mainly because there was another Poser-related utility program. But I don't recall what it was called and don't have the URL - if somebody mentions the name it'll set the bells ringing I'm sure.
The 3Dcheapskate* occasionally posts sensible stuff. Usually by accident.
And it usually uses Poser 11, with units set to inches. Except when it's using Poser 6 or PP2014, or when its units are set to PNU.
*also available in ShareCG, DAZ, and HiveWire3D flavours (the DeviantArt and CGBytes flavour have been discontinued).
That error is from the library having an option to search the now gone Content Paradise. It's nothing to worry about.
Available on Amazon for the Kindle E-Reader Monster of the North and The Shimmering Mage

I use Poser 13 and win 10
Also, if you have questions for earlier versions, you can post them in the Poser Official forum.

@3dcheapskate
to remove the annoying message open the hosts file found in
C:>Windows>System32>drivers>etc
open the hosts file with a txt editor
add this line at the bottom
127.0.0.1 www.contentparadise.com
your hosts file should look like this
localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost
127.0.0.1 www.contentparadise.com
save the hosts file ( Done )
after these steps you will not get any error messages in poser
Thanks RedPhantom,wfbp1w and Septos.
I'd assumed that a forum for earlier Poser versions would be under Poser > All Poser. Silly me, I'd totally missed the "Poser - Official" forum under Software - hidden in plain sight as usual !
wfbp1w - yes, I'd noticed that it's not dockable. But the basic, more limited, HTML one is.
Septos - ah yes, I've edited that before. That'd do it.
P.S. - P3DO Free from Senosoft is the other one I was thinking of. I'll start another thread on the proper "Poser - Official" forum

Since there's no forum for pre-Poser 11 versions, at least none that I can find, and since Renderosity is now the home for all things Poser, I'll ask here...
I opened my copy of PP2014 for the first time in a few months and got this. It's obviously something to do with the death of Flash, and appears to be a link of some sort (the outline goes blue when I mouse over it) - but nothing happens if I click it.
So obviously I need a free library manager for PP2014. I recall that there were a couple, but can somebody remind me please ?
