Subject: Staggered Values On Master Parameters?

EldritchCellar ( ) posted Sun, 23 May 2021 at 11:33 AM · edited Tue, 04 February 2025 at 7:05 PM

I've been working on some JCMs and I noticed that Master Parameter Indicator values are sometimes staggered. Is there a reason for this or is it just one of Poser's idiosyncrasies?

My first guess would be it's because of the length of the parameter name causing the value display tracking to scoot over to accommodate...

Good guess?

Oh, I haven't noticed this anomaly before. I should keep an eye out for it. Your assumption may be correct about the parameter name length. Have you tried widening the column a tad to see if that corrected the display?

EldritchCellar ( ) posted Sun, 23 May 2021 at 2:22 PM

It's the name length that's the culprit. Widening the parameter palette has no effect. Ordinarily I would just ignore something like that but spending so much time working on morphs (especially tedious complex ones) I wanted to make sure it wasn't indicating something obscure that I wasn't aware of. False alarm, silly me.

I tested by renaming a morph to something really long and the behavior is shown...

That totally sucks. It's just too bad that the techs are not working on P11 anymore. I wonder if P12 has the same problem.

EldritchCellar ( ) posted Sun, 23 May 2021 at 4:11 PM

One way to find out in 12. Load a figure with FBMs and rename a morph to something long. Just double click the morph dial which will bring up the morph settings dialogue where you can rename amongst other things. The external name isn't important. I'd bet that the behavior is the same in 12.

For now I'm sticking with 11 as it has everything I need. Plus I rely heavily on Colorcurvature's PML scripts and Netherwork's scripts. Upgrading can wait for quite a bit.

Anyway. Back to Blender. I just got the Retopoflow add on and it is awesome!

Nice talking :)

Good. When I get a chance, I'll fiddle with P12 and see if that also happens. Enjoy.

I suspect that the problem arises from Poser's compatibility with the DPI/resolution of your screen. Take a look at the solution I found for my somewhat similar problem posted here ...

Might be. I'm not really bothered by this one behavior, it doesn't have any impact on my poser use. I appreciate you taking the time to point it out though, glad you found a solution to your problem also :)
