do you try to follow any of the composition rules, or you just go by instinct?

i don't usually worry too much about the rule of thirds. i just try to make it look balanced.

if i have multiple characters in the scene i try to make look like they're aware of each other.

I wish I had kept all those John Norman Gor books for the Vallejo covers ?

I used to get so furious reading them ?but could not help myself and kept buying more (second hand) had about 20

the tornor novels. got so angry at the ending i threw the paperback across the room and pouted all day. lol. i was in my teens.

Richard corben was also a favorite, I like all of the artists mentioned above. The Gor series had some great covers... especially being a teenage boy lol. I think I stopped reading the series at like the 10th book. The slave girl stuff was pretty weird. I really liked the Michael Whelan Elric covers also...

The initial series was 6 books. They're the best of the lot I think. Michael Moorcock's characters Corum (the Swords Trilogy, Chronicals of Corum) and Hawkmoon (numerous books) are also fantastic reads. All of these characters are tied in with the author's concept of the Eternal Champion and the conflict between Law and Chaos. Something that's had a lasting impact on the genre of heroic fantasy in various ways.

If you can find the works, comics artist P Craig Russell's depictions of the stories are beautiful adaptations in his distinctive style. When I was young me and my best friend would often debate over who was superior, Conan or Elric. He was a Howard's Conan fan. Those books had the lovely Frazetta covers that are now classics. Of course Conan was a neanderthal compared to the brooding, doomed sorcerer king and anti hero Elric lol. My opinion of Conan has softened over the years...

I love fantasy art like that! That's what I always have in mind when I'm working on my animations. This one isn't actually part of a current animation, but concept art I've made for something yet to come, perhaps.

The cloth on the girl (my Rosie) was inspired by this movie, which I really enjoy - and made my first Fan-Edit for:

i been dreaming of a I AM DRAGON KING. need a figure with the dream physique to realize a render.

I collect various full character products and like to mix n' match heads individually from the bodies to come up with custom results. Through most generations of Genesis, for example, the Victoria and Michael lines can quickly introduce some pretty real-world details of the main shape. But then I also like to have all of the shaping collections for more specifics.

As for "I Am Dragon", that dress that she wears through my whole fan edit above has inspired me to do something similar, but much more fantasized.

To do this, I found the Veranil blouse in my runtime and started with that. In Daz Studio, I was able to delete a few polygons under the ties. In DS, the Geometry Editor can delete polygons without destroying the item as a conforming cloth.

Then I used Fit Control to vastly alter the shape of the blouse into a dress.

I work quickly through most of the above process because my ultimate goal happens when I run it through VWD Cloth and Hair to drape and animate the item.

Then I either use the original texture maps or start from scratch (As I've done here) to redesign the materials - in this case, a translucent, dirty white dress that is also damp.
