When I go to the Renderosity front page, the whole thing is blotted out by a dark overlay which carries only the words 'Wanna get our emails?' and, thankfully, an X to close it with.

If I did wanna get your emails, what should I do?!

What browser are you using? Do you use an ad blocker?

Should have mentioned that, sorry. I'm using Chrome with Adblock Plus, although it doesn't report that it's blocked anything on that page. I tried just now with Firefox, and got a dark overlay with a white rectangle in it. I had Noscript running, but when I told it to trust the page, the overlay disappeared after refreshing.

The overlay doesn't appear every time I visit the front page; maybe once a day? I regularly visit from different computers, so it's hard to keep track.

Can you PLEASE scrap this super-annoying pop-up about emails every time I open Renderosity? I HATE those (I've stopped visiting sites in the past that have done this. I won't leave Rendo, but it would be great if you could stop doing this.). Thanks!

I signed up on the first instance this happened, even though I already subscribe. Since then I've seen the popup at least three more times.

Don't get me started about the bleedin' annoying green pop out that appears from time to time at the bottom of the screen.

I've never seen a green pop out, but now I know there is one I feel deprived. Maybe all the topic reply notifications that are never sent out collect in the forum's bilges and eventually decay into the digital equivalent of green slime.

The green pop out is on the lower right of the screen

if you click on it you'll get this little form

sometimes, if the page gets resized, the popout will stick out even though it's tucked in.

Ignore the green G in the corner of the pop-out. That's an addon I have.

That's all right then, I'm not deprived, just depraved. :D I have the feedback tab. I don't get notifications for topics that I'm subscribed to, but I guess you can't have everything.

Added to the above, I have a deep and abiding hatred of "wanna" as a substitute for "Do you want to" used in anything other than dialogue. It's shoddy and unprofessional for site messages.

I'm sure my head will do at least one of those if I see that damned thing pop up again... ?

Or, it may just oscillate. I can't imagine that would be very pleasant, either, going from balloon head to pin head in a matter of seconds. You'd never be able to wear a hat.

Any road up, I got one of those annoying email things again yesterday. Not today, which may or may not signify the problem's been rectified.

I'm still getting the black fog, at seemingly random intervals on different machines. Better than red mist, at any rate. I hope your head's still intact, @RodS.

😆 My head is still doing OK, Bob, but it's getting awfully tired of seeing that #^&%$#^ email thing. Just got it again a few minutes ago.

I've made sarcastic remarks about the forum ebots in this thread, and looking back (once I'd worked out how to persuade the forum search to actually do that), I found a post from June 2015 where I explained what was wrong with them. That was over six years ago and they still aren't fixed. I'm sorry to suggest that you might have considerably more pain in your future. :o

I may as well answer my own question, in case anyone else comes to this thread with the same question.

This page has a big orange button - click that and you'll be emailed a link to yet another page, a customised URL at subscriptions.e2ma.net where you can set your preferences.

I did try the Big Orange Button back in April, following a link from another forum, but I never received an email. I guess they fixed it now.
