Subject: Mat Room, Image Map Dialog CRASH (macOS)

Mac.  iMac Pro.  18 core xeon.  128GB RAM.  Radeon Pro Vega 64.

Poser 12.  Latest.

Cintiq 16

MacOS Monterrey.  Latest.

Poser often (about 10% of the time) opens the dialog box for selecting the image OFF SCREEN.  The screen can be set for any resolution and it does this.  It effectively opens the dialog to the right of the screen. You can see this if you change the resolution, which seems to force the dialog back onto the screen.  It's a problem as poser dialogs do not support the ESC key (or any key stroke) to close the hidden dialog.  Forcing the dialog back onto the screen, even pressing the cancel button in the dialog causes poser to crash.  Poser crashes a lot in thew material room.  If pasting nodes, crashes about 5% of the time.  Worse the more complex the nodes being pasted.

I'm actually developing a character right now, which means I'm using a lot of the features such as loading morph targets, shaders, setup.  A lot of Superfly renders.  Under this sort of heavy interaction, Poser 12 is crashing about once every 15-30 minutes.  Having repeatedly lost hours of work, I'm now in the habit of saving literally after every single change I make in Poser.

This is brutal.

Anyone else getting this?

I have a relatively similar situation on my Poser, and after reading your problems I wonder if it's really related to the OS as I'm a Win10 user.

Poser uses intensively Python and I suspect a problem hiding at the Python level: from time to time, for exemple while applying a pose for a hand: Poser asks if I want to update the left or the right hand and... nothing. That f..cking pseudo window stays in front of Poser, with no possibility to close it as the Poser owners insist on using  an interface that creates windows or dialog boxes that don't exist for the OS, forcing the user to shutdown Poser without possibility to save one last time.

And given the fact that it's Python, it's not multi-tasking and somewhere the autosave feature doesn't work in that situation.

I've been a programmer since 1985 and believe me, I've had my fair share of high-level languages with their fake dialog boxes stuck in the middle of nowhere... Portability sometimes has painful drawbacks

I'm not sure if this is relevant , but I've had this kind of issue with a few items Like the queue manager. Turns out that the dialogue boxes were there all along, just off screen on another monitor.

I suspect the team setting this up may have been using multiple monitors and forgot to readjust for single monitor users....

Just a thought...

Y'all have a great day.
