Subject: Torn or Tattered Dress

generation2235 ( ) posted Tue, 23 August 2022 at 5:20 AM ยท edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 9:54 PM

I've been looking for a sort of a tattered and/or torn dress, preferable conforming, kind of what might be seen on a ghostly or gothic figure. I have looked around the Renderosity marketplace as well as other vendor sites but haven't found such a style of dress so I wanted to ask here, is such an item as that available anywhere and where might one be?

I'm primarily a Poser artist, not at all familiar with Daz and my main base figure is Victoria 4.

Thanks, all.

I may be able to help,

I just sent up a promo render of a conforming and dforce dress for DAZ V4 that has a tattered texture on it. It's still in testing and hope to release it soon here. I am sure it could be made into a regular OBJ to be made into a Poser dress. I just don't own Poser but I could pass the OBJ on to someone that knows how to make Poser clothes. Or I could export the CR2 in DAZ for Poser use but I don't own Poser to test what comes out... I'll upload the promo render here for you to check out. It is sufficiently tattered and it is conforming to V4's skeleton as well..

Your timing for the suggestion was spot on, I am actually in the middle of making a dForce Dress for V4 to sell here. The Poser part is something I have to do some churning on since I don't have Poser to test out the creation

Honestly though it could be awhile for me to get around to experimenting with the Poser end of this project but I'll let you in on a secret on how I made this render-

I bought these textures and tiled them into my dress's surface nodes and got a really convincing tattered look...I bet you could take any dress in your content library and make it just as tattered as this one with the textures in this product, link below

Thanks, Cobbler3D! I grabbed that texture this morning and will experiment with that a bit later on today. Of course I'm looking forward to the new product you currently have in the works. Haloween is coming up and a product such as a ghostly, torn/tattered dress for V4 and G8 will likely to be a big hit!

*thumbs up*

The dress will fit to V4 and autofit to G8F but I hope you try out those textures in the meantime. They will definitely make a brand new dress tattered in a horror style ;)

The dress started like this before I put the tattered texture on in the previous render. These are some promo images:

Nice!

Thanks!

I think when it releases, I'll look into the Poser solution with DAZ's export to CR2 fratures

Looking forward to it.

Incidentally I did experiment a bit with the texture applied to an existing dress figure I have in my runtime and the result was interesting although in the area where it was tear or a hole it appeared an opaque black. How would I go about transforming the black areas to transparent?

Thanks.

Oh,

Make sure to place the transmap into the opacity node of your surface to get a see through hole...
