Subject: Figure done, works fantastic, but a few snags...

Hi all. Just put together a simple character modeled in Lightwave and exported to poser. The character is made and working fine, with one exception and I also have an additional question. Problem: I can't apply image textures to it. I've put it through UVMapper like I usually do, made a tex and bump map, and applied them in Poser, but the textures just don't appear in the display or in the render (and, yes, I am in the textured display mode). What gives? Question: How do I re-name the joints (i.e. from "Rotate X" to "Bend," "Twist," etc.)? Thanks in advance for any help.

First problem, I am stumped, second question, double click the dial, Xrotate and a box will open you can put your new name there. Sharen First problem, you are applying these textures in the material editor correct, with the right group selected?

When you UV mapped the figure and saved the texture map template did you also save the figure/model? Unless you did this and used the UV Mapper saved figure in Poser the maps will not work. Also make sure that "texture changes apply to entire figure" in the surface material box is ticked and that the figure/ figure parts and not preview is selected in the material paths tab. STORM

you may want to delete the old .rsr that maybe overiding the new mapped figure

and then.... to see the texture, you either need to be in texture shaded preview (the swirly marbly ball), or render the image (with use texture maps turned on). oh, and after you save the new obj from uvmapper, remember to delete its rsr in the geometries directory where it resides, before running poser again.

Well, I have tried all of these suggestions and it still stubbornly refuses to take a texture map. I am stumped. Other questions, though: How do I get rid of rotation channels I don't want? How do I set the min/max of rotation channels? (I seem to be able to set them by double-clicking, but it doesn't have any effect, even with Use Limits turned on.)

heyas; what version of poser are you using, and do you have all your shots? er, i mean updates? :) to get rid of rotation channels you dont want, you would go into the cr2 and change their parameter hidden 0 to hidden 1. i dont believe there's a way to do that in the p4 hierarchy window. you do set the min/max limits by double clicking the dial. when you turn on use limits, you should not be able to rotate the dial beyond the min/max; nor type in numbers beyond the limits. there is an exception when ik is turned on; joints may be bent beyond their listed limits. dunno any reason why it wouldn't work for you. :/
