Again not all change is progress
A word is not the same with one writer as with another. One tears it from his guts. The other pulls it out of his overcoat pocket
Charles Péguy
Heat and animosity, contest and conflict, may sharpen the wits, although they rarely do;they never strengthen the understanding, clear the perspicacity, guide the judgment, or improve the heart

So is that TTFN or TANSTAAFL?

I would be more open to updating my V4 to the latest Victoria IF there was an easy way to convert current items to be compatible with that figure,(key word there is "easy"). I'm not a modeler, and even after all this time, I am not familiar with the terminology used in some of the porcesses, so trying to figure out how to learn to create my own content has not been that successful. I did try working with DaZ - too different from Poser and couldn't figure out the UI. I guess if I had started with DaZ instead, the roles might be reversed - don't know. Tried using DSON - failed miserably and nothing worked right. Tried Dawn - did not like that character's overall design. Did some stuff with the Poser 6 default character, but that didn't last long when I found V4. Just all the way around, V4 is a solid character design. Skin tones, movement. morphs, weight mapping, etc just make her better, and skin textures have improved greatly over the years. Also, her look, using the Superfly render engine looks on par with most of the current characters out there.
Been using Vicky for over 10 years now, and I still have so much more to learn. She's been a great teacher.
I would love to use some of the newer content/figures, and it's a shame that the older content can't effectively, (from my own limited research/knowledge), be used with the newer figures. Backward compatibility would make the prospect of upgrading to a more current version of Vicky much more appealing to me.
All the same tho, why should I move on from V4, when I can get results like this?
Sometimes, staying with a program one is familiar with, and using skill sets that have been around for ages, like photoshop, for post working, one can fix the many flaws the V4 base form has. I have a virtual friend who resides in Cypress who has photo skills so vast. He only uses Poser and the base mesh's to set the background and figure poses and expression, and everything else is Photoshop for color, lighting and mood. It takes him a month to do a single image and every time he post something I am in awe.
I render in poser, post work in photoshop to fix flaws and add some contrast, the comic life to finish off my stories 134+ comics and I am stiff comfortable with my 3d software of choice using pro2014
BTW Wolfsbain, your image is stunning

Content has been decoupled from figures for quite a while now (I was moving V3 content to Sydney back in the Poser 7 era - so much easier today) - in addition, it is pretty easy to add newer features to legacy figures right in Poser.
That being said - their isn't really a need to move on, if you don't want to. I move in a different direction - getting DS content into Poser, where it belongs.
If you are willing to learn the tools - you can have the best of both worlds.
I still use V4 because I'm still HOT for V4 lol. 85% of my commissions use V4.
And for the following reasons-
1) Loading V4 characters on to my DAZ Studio scene Doesn't take forever. G3F takes 15 minutes to load, G8F takes 20 minutes to load. V4 takes under a minute to load. I have a beefy machine too. Nvidia 3080TI GPU, AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-Core Processor, 64 GB RAM. So I have no idea why Genesis figures have to take so long to become usable on the scene.
2) Like what the others say, I have a shedload of V4 content that I still love and collect.
This is how I render my V4 in a DAZ Studio Iray environment. No postwork...
I use V4 M4 with Poser pro-2014 I have accumilated a huge library from when Daz started V4 and M4 and continued to support DAZ till V5 was created strictly for DAZ and DAZ Studio Now after a huge row and let's leave it at that, I did buy a V5 M5 starter kits with DSON, and was not impressed, Now some of it was that not every outfit or prop that DAZ sold came with DSON, I guess it was a Vendor option. but in the emend, gave up on it.
Now I can say that the new millennial items are indeed soft on the eyes and look awesome in renders. But for me I will stick with V4 and M4 using Poser. With my library that is close to 1 TB in size and My skills using photoshop to post-work my renders My image renders are flawless as they are inserted into my comic software
since 2004 I have been creating comics for two sites one site is more BDSM themed and the other deals with Fantasy Transgender stories, between to two sites I have over 120 publications. At 73 I have slowed down a lot and just take my time
