Subject: Problem with installation of products Daz3D

helderres ( ) posted Sun, 20 November 2022 at 7:26 AM · edited Thu, 23 January 2025 at 9:47 PM

I'm in need of help installing products purchased in Daz3D.

In previous versions of Daz3D products, the products came as executable files. Then it was just run by giving the path to Poser's folder.

However, in current versions of Daz3D products, they come in "zip" files.

On products purchased from Renderosity, I installed easily, unpacking the "zip" files into a folder I created, with the name "Poser Content", and then including the folder in the Poser 11 library.

When I tried the memo procedure with the Daz3D products, (unpacking the files to a folder I called "Poser Downloads"), when it includes the folder in the Poser 11 library, it appeared as "0" installed products.

So I wish I could rely on everyone's wisdom to teach me how to install Daz3D products, which are coming in zip files.

Thank you, everyone.

Complementing the information, I'm adding the screens of the installed Daz3D files and the Poser 11 screen.

As you may know, DAZ content files come predominantly in 2 flavors, 1 file for DS and the other for Poser.  However, both zip files contain a primary or first level, folder called Content.  All the different subfolders are nested within this primary folder.  The problem arises when you manually unzip the contents, you add this Content folder to your DAZ or Poser Library.  DS and Poser do not recognize the Content folder and it shouldn't be there by default.  If you are doing a manual installation, you need to go down 1 folder level and extract all the subfolders to your library.  The images below show what you need to install from the zip files.

                                                                             4iZKF1Su7bnvXmwLWln1JyBCWtDeWmPWywNBE0bM.png

DAZ has packaged its content differently than your conventional Renderosity zip file and it is because DAZ wants you to use its Daz Install Manager program to organize and add content to each of your programs easily.  The program is designed to strip away the Content folder and install the underlying subfolders in their right places.  This explains why, when you perform the manual procedure, you don't see the content in the Poser Library.

The reason you are not seeing a content image is that there is no PNG image file present in that folder.  It is old content that still uses RSR files for imaging.  You need to get the RSR to PNG file converter located in the Freebie Section.

Dear friend hborre!

Thank you for your attention.

I'm going to try to do it the way you taught me.

Dear Friend hborre,

I did as you taught me and it worked!!!

I unziped all the files, (using the "winrar"), in any folder. Then I copied all the folders, one level below "Content", to a folder I called "Poser Downloads". Finally, I inserted the Poser Downloads folder into the Poser 11 library. And all the files showed up there.

Now just do the installation of the file conversion software *. RSR to *.PNG.

Thank you so much for your precious help.

Once again you saved me from a problem.

Dear Friend hborre,

I searched in the Freebie Section but found no software convert. Could you send me the file download link.

I'm sorry for this more nuisance.

Once again thank you so much for everything you have taught me.

I'm surprised you couldn't find it in the Freebie section.  Here is the link:

My Dear Friend hborre,

A lot of the things I need, I can't find.

I think I'm a little illiterate about these things.

I'm getting something done, thanks to friends like you.

Thank you again.
