Subject: Add a face picture to a 3d model

Hi there,

I'm quite a newbie on this so I do not know the exact langage to use, but I'd like to know if it's possible to create/modelize a caracter/body with a face of somebody we like by using a picture of that person (a picture captured on Instagramm for example (multiple shots from different frames/angles). Like this, the programm used (maybe Renderosity, or another competent programm) could do a 3d morphing from that picture. Then I'd like to add that face morphing to a body. Thank you.

It is possible but it is quite involved.  You would need a 3d figure model with UV mapping on which you will project your image on.  The face image needs to be composited in a 2D program like Photoshop and matched to the UV map.  Morphing is an entirely different process that either relies on preexisting morphs or morphs originally created in a sculpting program like Blender or ZBrush.

So, while all these things are possible, you need to develop the skills to effectively convey an actual individual to 3D.

At least for the head/face there is a well know app called "FaceGen" (facegen.com), which can give you some starting point, they even have one version targeting Daz users. Also don't forget to consider the ethical / legal aspect of the matter...

Before investing in 3d Face generating programs, determine which model you will use as a base and research if these programs are adequate for your needs.  There may be a steep learning curve or the model you would like to use is incompatible with the software.

Also, consider copyright laws and how those apply to your particular situation.  Friends who freely grant you permission may be fine, but celebrities or individuals unfamiliar with you may object to any representation in a 3D Image.

Thanks for these infos. There will be no copyright issues since it's only friendly matter but I need to capture the face from Instagram. I'll try facegen and see what it offers. Anyway, thank you all. I'll comeback to you when I'll be more skilled with Zbrush.
