Subject: Looking for a loincloth designer! Or can I do it myself? V3/V4/Miki4

solstice69 ( ) posted Tue, 10 January 2023 at 7:16 AM · edited Mon, 06 January 2025 at 6:57 PM

Hi everybody,

I am creating little adventure stories for my own pleasure, set mostly on remote islands or in the Wild West.
I use Poser Pro 11 and work mostly still with old figures like V4 or, my favorite, Miki4.
I like my female figures wearing loincloths. I usually work with the old Dreamwalker Bikini Bottom by Lady Liitlefox or the Jungle Loin Cloth for V4 from Evilinnonce.

Both are nice but have some features that annoy me. The Dreamwalker bottom has a piece of cloth going from the back to front, like a slip, that I don't want and the Jungle Loin is too big for my Miki4.

What I need is indeed a very simple loincloth. Just a rope around the waist, with two dynamic, skimpy pieces of cloth attached back and front with the ability to adjust in size and make it invisible.

As this is intended for Poser 1, with old figures, I think it's pretty basic, but I may be wrong.

Are there any cloth designers that accept custom work like this... or is there a software around that enables to do it by myself? I have no experience whatsoever, though.

Thanks for your help!

I am not a modeler but by your description, you want something simple yet functional for still images.  You need to specify whether the loin cloth should be dynamic or conforming with pose handles to obtain the right, natural look of a flimsy garment.  This all depends on whether you use the Cloth Room for draping the outfit.  There are a good number of modelers in the forum, and I am sure they can create something for you rather quickly if you outline how you will use it in your workflow.

Poser 1? Did you type that right? Pretty sure you can't even use custom figures in Poser 1...

Oh, I am sorry... I meant Poser 11 of course.

I have no experience in the cloth room, and yes, I'd love to have a dynamic, conforming prop.

It will need to be conforming then with a few pose handles.

yes, and the ability to make back and front invisible

EvilInnocence's Crossdresser will allow you to fit V4 or V3's clothing to Miki.

I don't own Dreamwalker, but have you tried turning the part you don't like transparent in the material room? You may have to make a trans map if it's not grouped as a separate material, but that's a lot easier than modeling it yourself.

There's also this:

It's dynamic, so easy to fit to other figures.

Thank you! The loin at the link is too wide and big for my purposes unfortunately.
With Dreamwalker I made all things invisible I didn't want, but the slip that goes "round the butt" I can't because it belongs to the "rest".
As I wrote before I have no experience with changing clothes in Poser, so I don't know what a trans map is.  Can you please explain?
Sounds like you can make parts separate? Of course, this would be a great help!

I tried to make a render of the Dreamwalker loincloth. I have "invisibled" all stuff I can already. What bothers me is the slip that I tried to mark with the arrows. It's not posable at all to pose this and belongs with the rest to the "hip" part of the object. Of course I can wipe it off in Photoshop but this is quite time consuming as the slip is tiny in the middle.

What I need is bascially this without the slip part. Just a leather rope with some cloth back and front. Dreamwalker would be almost perfect if it wasn't for this.SOtFynbg8N0GLyHoaKOsUSm41sRmrUbkBgwlE5OZ.png

You can use the grouping tool and select the vertices of this "slip" part.  Then assign a different material to just those vertices.  You can then make this material invisible!

Thanks... but your hint with transparency maps just solved the issue!
So thans a lot!

But... if a designer is still interested in doing a custom one, please contact me!

Are you looking for something like this?  You can create a treansparency mask to customize the length.  It is the Cheyenne collection for M4.  At DAZ.

Thank you Boni, yes, I will check it out... although I like the cloth to be torn, a wild style.

That is the beauty of this model it will be easy to create a transparency map for tears.  If you decide to purchase this I would be happy to create the map for you.

Aha! I figured it was a typo, just wanted to clarify :D I tend to be partial to dynamic clothes when it comes to flowing fabric, but conforming might make things easier for you - just keep in mind that conforming loinclothes have a tendency to look weird when posed, because of the nature of conformers (a loincloth is right between the legs, so when one moves, the other gets kinda pulled but not, it's a nightmare to rig).

But yeah, people already gave you lots of good ideas here ;)

One thing to keep in mind parts of a conforming garment can be assigned to be dynamic.  I do this with the conforming fantasy dress quite a lot.

Boni,

the Cheyenne loincloth looked familiar to me and indeed I saw that I purchased the whole Cheyenne bundle some years ago at DAZ!
So it would be thrilling if you could create a transparent map for me to make it smaller!

Not a problem. Give me a couple days and I will Dropbox a selection to you in site mail.

It’s great Boni, thank you so much!

It could even a little shorter on the front as I prefer my figures wearing a bit lower on the hips!

Boni ( ) posted Thu, 12 January 2023 at 4:49 PM

I'm running a little late today ... so I won't be able to make that adjustment until Monday.  In the meantime ... you can choose the "loincloth" of the model and adjust the y-scale to shorten it.
