Subject: I'm slowly going insane, please help!

I used Poser Pro 14 back in the day. After a very very long break I find myself with the time to start creating again. I have a load of files of software I bought back then but PP14 is on my old laptop and I've lost the serial number and cannot access my old emails for receipts.

My new(er) laptop is an Intel i7 -4712MQ CPU 2.30GHz with Intel HD Graphics 4600 and 16gb RAM, I'm also running an SSD Drive rather than hard disc.

So I had decided to bite the bullet and purchase Poser 12 .. then I realised that DSON is now a no-go and frankly I have too much content that I wouldn't be able to use for it to be worth my while. THEN I decided to do the unthinkable and try DAZ3D which I had tried several times before in the past but could not get the hang of. So I downloaded the latest version, cranked it up and .. it crashed. And crashed. And crashed.

{sigh}

I have searched for days for a solution for both problems and have found zilch. So here's my question .. do I purchase Poser 11 in the hope that it will work and I can start making art again? No point in getting Poser 12 because yeah, DSON. I never could figure out Daz but in desperation I tried - now it's sitting on my desktop like the World's most useless brick.

(edit) I'm using Windows 11 upgraded from Windows 10 Pro.

Get Poser 11. Use it to import the DAZ stuff you use and save it in native Poser form. Then if in the future you want to just use Poser 12 you can.

We've approached DAZ about updating DSON and they showed no interest. We can't, we don't own it. For it to work it has to include some code from DS.

Haven't used either one in years...  That being said, I've read about Bridge over on Daz. Would that help?   Or would it mess things up even more?

And that's provided you still have DSON.  It is no longer available at Daz and there may have been a version that simply didn't work well.  Using P11 and P12 to import the Genesis figures is doable but you need to import them into P11 and save them as Nerd 3D posted.  You can go as far as Genesis 8, don't even attempt Genesis 9, that one is hopeless.

No bridge exists for Poser.  Blender would be your best bet.

Thanks so much to all who took the time to help 😘 I may have a few options, I still have PP14 installed on my old laptop so I'll see if I can snag the dson from there and do as hborre suggested. I've never checked out Blender but I will do. Can't believe how much things have changed since I was using PP14, not necessarily for the better. Still can't understand why Daz refuses to perform on a reasonably good laptop?? I thought that after 10 years the software would be more user-friendly 😂 Anyhoo, time to explore my options. Thanks again friends 👍
