Subject: Paint Program for texturing?

I use photoshop, but I find when I try to clone part of a image to make the sides.. it comes out blurry when I render. I still find it easier than most programs. But is Deep Paint 3D and Painter 7 worth looking into. Like what program is better for making hair, and monster like skin.

I have always used Photoshop. Granted painting on a 3D surface would be nice, but I have seen and done some rather impressive texturing in Photoshop. Tools like EyeCandy 4000 and Flaming Pear can have almost endless options.

I use an older version of Painter, but have always thought that Photoshop or PSP seemed to have better cloning tools. Other candidates you might look at are Painter 3D (though I've read some negative comment on that score), ZBrush, and I think Maxon came out with an app called BodyPaint. If you do a search on those in this forum, you might get a good idea of what would best suit you.

There are some seam guides in the Free Stuff section hereabouts for Posette and the p4 dorky guy; maybe they might help your blurriness problem? Prsonally I think Photoshop is about the best thing since sliced bread...

3D Paint and BodyPaint are overall better for combatting stretching on textures, but they cost a good chunk of change and have a significant learning curve, or I've heard. I had a demo of 3D Paint and tried going through a tutorial on the web, but couldn't make heads or tails of it. To be fair, the demo might have had features disabled that the tutorial was expecting me to have.

zbrush does the job for painting on 3d models and texturing your 3d models as well. Like Kbade said there is a demo version available. @ www.zbrush.com. For texturing there is a script that can be downloaded within the demo called texturemaster. The textureMaster script is composed of 5-chapter tutorial on texturing, ranging from the basics to advanced concepts. Also included are tips on importing objects, creating morph targets, and working with UV coordinates. Also if you have downloaded the demo, check the zscript window palette (left of the interface) there are serveral scripts that can be loaded...like modeling, painting and texturing. Hope it helps :-)

Zbrush demo does not allow import/export. However the texturemaster has a Daz model imported as a tool to explain texturing inn ZBrush. there are some tutorials of morphing at http://www.awakemm.com/poserarcana/ and http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=000796 and here http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=001338 (see ZUZU post with tons of leads...) hope this helps...
