Hello everyone! Unlurking after quite some time just being quiet in here and learning as much as I can from all of you great Vue artists. Just wanted to share one of my latest renders with you, named it Pueblo...It's 100 % unretouched Vue just resized and sharpened in Photoshop. Just want to thank you all for sharing so much of your work, time and teachings with the rest of us. This sure is a great place to learn *grin* Marvilla

Hey, that is a great pic... Great colors... Textures very nice... Lighting is very well done.. Where is the folded blanket from?? Great job... :)

marvilla ( ) posted Sun, 04 November 2001 at 2:09 AM

Thank you tradivoro, so glad you liked it! :) The folded blanket is a model I picked up at Wire Monger's website which I textured myself using a Mexican rug image: http://www.wiremonger.com/ Some of the other textures, such as the building walls are Graphtallica textures from: http://www.3dworldmag.com/resources/models_default.asp They have some excellent textures to create materials from, some of my very favorites. Welcome, Marvilla! That picture is really, really good!

bloodsong ( ) posted Sun, 04 November 2001 at 9:55 AM

killer! very nice. :) did you make the building from cubes and terrains, or is it an imported model?

tradivoro ( ) posted Sun, 04 November 2001 at 10:49 AM

I'll check out wiremonger's place.. Thanks...

marvilla ( ) posted Sun, 04 November 2001 at 11:49 AM

Wowser! blush What a wonderful welcome and thank you all so much for your lovely comments on the image...y'all have made my day! :) Sharen I have been playing with Vue for about 6 months...I have been working with 2D graphics for over five years now but had never really gotten into 3D except for a little dabbling with Bryce abvout 2 years ago, but honestly I never really felt comfortable with Bryce so I didn't try again until I found Vue d'Esprit and immediately fell in love with it. Here is the URL to my graphics website, maybe when y'all have a few spare minutes you may like to visit it, I sure would love having you stop by: http://www.xtremedigitalmedia.com/marvilla/ Bloodsong the building is a model I found at 3D Cafe: http://www.3dcafe.com/asp/architex.asp it's called Pueblo and that's where I got the name for this image g Again, thank you all, you really made me feel welcome here today :) Marvilla

Woah!..nice collection of artwork you have there! Very nice abstract. Among the lot, I like "Royal Orchd" the best :) "Sailaway" and West coos bay" is very good too. Thanks for a time well spend there :)

marvilla ( ) posted Sun, 04 November 2001 at 12:46 PM

Awesome to know you visited the website tesign and I appreciate your kind comments, thank you! grin I haven't updated the site in a while...maybe now I'll get back to work on it and update the gallery and backgrounds sections with more recent images. Marvilla

Golly!! Nice lovely artwork :). I see you are a Painter user hehe...I just got Painter 6 and have no clue! I've been trying to hook up with folks who have some Painter skills ;). Lovely site and gallery. Laurie

marvilla ( ) posted Sun, 04 November 2001 at 2:07 PM

Thanks Sharen and Laurie, and of course I'm staying and posting more...I love this place! :) And yes Laurie, I have worked some with Painter...it's a wonderful program for achieving painting realism but it's learning curve is very steep...at least for me, I find Photoshop much easier. I usually open up Painter, start working in it, get frustrated because I can't figure out how to create a particular effect that's in my mind and wind up switching back to Photoshop when my confidence starts to slip LOL I definitively have a lot of learning yet to do in Painter, that's for sure! Hehehe marvilla...you sound like me! I'm a Photoshop girl from waaaayyy back. It's qualified learning for graphic designers :). I've always felt more comfortable in it, but I love what can be done in Painter. Of course, Vue really stole my heart! LOL. Laurie

marvilla ( ) posted Sun, 04 November 2001 at 3:06 PM

You got that right Laurie...hubby and I are in the graphics and web design business and we always advise any up and coming designers we meet to concentrate fully on developing their skills in Photoshop and Illustrator if they want to get hired by the major graphics houses. My husband is more geared to 3D imagery and animation and uses Maya and Lightwave as his two major tools...but like I said before, I'm stil a newbie when it comes to 3D and Vue is just perfect for me at this time :) Marvilla

If you spent six months lurking around here learning from our work (maybe not mine as I don't post lots of things), I think we'll soon learn from yours !

Larry F ( ) posted Sun, 04 November 2001 at 6:49 PM

Well, they've all said it and I'll say it too! That's a great piece of work. I like everything about it and if I was the envious type I'd come to your house and rip up your computer! Luckily, I'm more of the admiring type and I must say I do admire this work. And aspire to such quality myself. Thanks for sharing!

marvilla ( ) posted Sun, 04 November 2001 at 10:18 PM

Thanks Bop and Larry for your kind words :) Maybe when I get brave in about an ahem year mumble or so I'll attempt a tutorial heheh I have been thinking of sharing some humble mats and maybe some object I have made with the rest if you'd be interested...remember I still feel as I am learning Vue so they may not be as good as others that have shared their work in here. Been taking care almost 'round the clock of my very ill and frail elderly mother, but I promise as soon as I get a chance I will zip up what I have and share the stuff I have made if y'all want them. Larry ya cracked me up with your reply, just wanted you to know that LOL That was too funny :))) Marvilla

Marvilla, in light of what you said in re "...taking care almost 'round the clock .... of your mother ..." I'm glad that those remarks could give you a laugh, especially as that is how they were intended. Until two years ago, I dealt with that issue that myself for almost five years with my own mother. There is no option and, truth be told, while trying, it can be very rewarding. I hope that goes well for you. As far as your mats and stuff, if the above picture is any reference, those mats will hardly be humble. That work is just awesome! I have postcards that don't look nearly so fine. I'm glad to know you and see your work. Larry F

marvilla ( ) posted Mon, 05 November 2001 at 10:24 AM

Thank you Again Larry...and yes, it sure is a lot of work taking care of mom but she did that and so much more for me my whole life...least we can do is give them back some of that caring, I'm sure you felt the same way when you were doing so yourself. And a thank you to Jilly and Varian for your kind and encouraging words :) BTW Varian...you are a long lost and much loved friend, and I have missed you...do you have any idea who I am? biggest grin I have followed your work in here for a while now. You were a wonderful talent when we participated in the same newsgroup and even more so now as the years have passed! {{{{Varian}}}} Marvilla...aka. Maria chuckle
