I'm wondering if anyone here has any recommendations for apps which allow you to interactively paint directly on a 3D object and work well with Carrara. I haven't found anything out there besides Deep Paint 3D and BodyPaint 3D; Deep Paint 3D isn't available for the Mac and BodyPaint looks, well, less than intuitive. Is there some great app out there I haven't heard about? I started learning Carrara because I've wanted to work in 3D for a long time, and Carrara/Amapi are the first apps I've worked with that have intuitive interfaces and allow me to get work done in them with a minimum of fuss (I took a semester-length course in SoftImage 3D and felt like I was fighting the interface every step of the way!). I'm excited to see what version 2 will bring.

ZBrush looks pretty cool & it's 1/2 off for a limited time ($300.00!): http://pixologic.com/ If you can find Painter3D someplace cheap it would be an OK find. Prehaps you can find an older Metacreations version of Poser 4 that had it included.

Download the demo of BodyPaint 3D from Maxon...you will love it ;) The UI can be configured to a multitude of user options. Interactivly painting on to a raytraced 3D object seems so natural, that you don't even think about it while you are doing it. Cheers

Hi, As Willf says, ZBrush will allow you to paint on 3D models, and much more... You also have 3D modeling tools, which allow you to create new 3D models or modify imported 3D objects, as well as creating morph-targets. Check www.zbrushcentral.com for lots of info about ZBrush and look for the TextureMaster ZScript!
