Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 10 1:16 pm)
First , on a pc you cant allocate memory to a program, only try to run no other programs beside poser. second , poser often gives the memory error when something different is going wrong. make shure that the *.obj files you load are in the right directory and folder, in the folder where your *obj-file is there is a correspondind *.rsr file.delete it , sometimes they become corrupt.poser will build a new one when loading the obj third: are you running win98 or me,they can cause problems too.
If your hardisk is split into several disks, make sure that the disk where Windows puts its virtual memory swap file has at least as much free space as the size of your PCs internal memory. Windows needs to be able to swap all memory to disk, in your case 512Mb. Next to that, its recommended to save space for 2 times your internal memory as Windows will try to use this much disk space for its virtual memory, 1Gb in your case. Should you want to handle the virtual memory size yourself, set the min. size to 512Mb, max. 1Gb. And have windows put the virtual memory file on a disk that doesnt get too much fragmented, so dont put it on a disk with lots of images and other small files that get frequently changed. Confused? I am. Maxx ;-)
So when you are on xp its not a windows problem( my windowsproblems have gone since im on xp) than something is in the wrong place or its the rsr-file. had the prob yesterday, tried to load a figure and got the memory error, the *rsr-file for the obj is normally 150 KB, he got 15 MB !!dont know how such happens. But after deleting the rsr-file everything was ok

This is a technical problem!!! I have a pentium 4, 1.5ghz, 512mb ram but still when i try to load big characters like morphworld's eve or the ghost rider chopper from 3d-cc, it says i don't have enough memory and should allocate more memory to poser. How do i do this???
