hi everybody... i'm new here. just walked in the
door and posted a quick hello at the 3D apps forum
and then noticed it wasn't heavily posted so i slid
in here.

i'm a truespace and povray sorta guy, but i've been
looking for a character animation app, and i am
still trying to decide between animation master and
poser, so i'm hanging out in forums and email lists
checking stuff out.

i was hanging out over at poserforum.net, but it
looks like its dead. hey! from being at poserforum
i found out there was some kinda bad blood between
here and there, but nobody would tell me what it was
all about. could somebody fill me in and what was
going on? i'm just curious. if its not appropriate
for the forum, you could email me and
robison_m@crane.navy.mil and give me all the good
gossip.

looking forward to meeting everyone and listening
and learning.

thanks, miker

Howdy Miker, we are Sharen and Mike of www.sams3d.com. We try to get people 2 free models a week so if you need some free models go on over and grap some stuff. Most of it is poseable and poser ready, some are just props. But anyway, as far as poserforum, I don't know and would prefer not too, so I can't help you there. Okay, well then welcome again, you will love it here. Great people. Sharen

hiya Miker I'd say grab yourself a copy of poser then download everything in sight, that's what I've been doing and I've filled 2 cd's with freebies,I haven't seen any freebies for animation master, but it might be good for animating poser figures but you'll need poser anyway, my cheque from curious labs for that little ad bounced, so they get my endorsment for free :)

Hey Miker watch yourself with poser, its highly addictive.

The greatest part of wisdom is learning to develop  the ineffable genius of extracting the "neither here nor there" out of any situation...."

hey!

thanks for the warm welcome, sharen, c1rcle, chohole,
maxxarcher, and pokeydots. this place is way cool.
i logged on this morning and found an instant message
from a cohort from the defunct poserforum.net (sad).
i didn't even know renderosity had that capability.
i am AMAZED at all the stuff i see here... there are
galleries for work and contests, of course, but then
there are even places to sell your stuff and the cool
messaging system and i'm amazed at how many people are
on here at once, too!

get prepared! i got a bunch of newbie questions!

I can make one friendly suggestion. If you don't already have a CD Burner, you will need one. Go out and buy a bulk pack of CD's. The more the merrier. On my first week "rediscovering" Poser, I went on a download binge. After the first few days I had downloaded everything Renderosity had to offer, and everything at www.3dcc.com... and anywhere else I found. Then I sat down to make CD's for backup. In that first session I created 13 CD's. My collection is now up to at least 48 CD's. I lose count.

Welcome... I am with Ron on the CD Burner... A must have.. If you see something in the freestuff you like - grab it - Do NOT put it off until later because with free sites vanishing all the time so may the freebie. :)

They sell CD-burners nowadays? Dang, if I had only known before. My desk is pilled up with external harddrives... ;-)
