Subject: How to extract morph targets?

If I've loaded up a .pz3 file and want to extract morph targets into .obj file.. how do I do that? Thanks in advance. :)

No Problem...go get "compose" under Utilities, then go get the Java thingy you need to open it. Then, go to tutorials/Morph Targets over there ---------> and read the file very carefully. Follow the directions once, get confused and fail, then try it again paying even closer attention to the tutorial, and succeed! -Darth_Logice

I'm sorry..but I didn't see any relevant tutorials under "Morph Targets." Could you tell me exactly which one it is? BTW, I'm on a PC.. Thanks :)

You are correct Sir, my Bad. Try Traveller's Morph World/Tutorials. It is there for sure, just checked. PC friendly. -Darth_Logice

If you save the character to a library (as a cr2), you can use Morph Manager (also available in Free Stuff) to extract the morphs. Morph Manager runs on PC, no JAVA needed.

Compose and Morph Manager are pretty cool and you probably want to learn to use them but, if you just want an .obj file with the morph for whatever and don't want to fool with other programs, then, within Poser, you could just set the value of the desired morph to 1.000 (or whatever you want to become 1.000)and set all other morphs in that part to 0.000. Then go to "File/Export/Wavefront.obj" and select the part with the morph that you want to save. You will get an .obj mesh of just the part(s) you selected, morphed into their current shape. You can then use "Object/Load Morph Target/" to import this mesh shape into another .cr2 or object as a new morph target . But, if you're really just trying to move morphs between models, use Morph Manager. It's small, fast & easy. You'll love it.

Doesn't Poser offset the spatial coordinates of exported geomteries somehow? I've tried to export an .obj from within Poser 4, for use as an MT, only to have a morph which sends the head flying way off to the right or twisting around grotesquely. Did I botch it?

The object into which you wish to import the MT must be at the same position as the original object was when you exported the MT or it will treat the position offset as a function of the morph. Lemme see, could that be any more confusing? For example, after you export a morph for the head, then the figure that you want to import it into has to be in the same place as the original when you import the morph.
