Subject: Poser Props??

I just finished modeling a prop that i want to use in poser, it was modeled in RDS. It consists of 4 simple mesh groups. When I open the render menu however, I only have one listing for materials, that being preview. So the question is, how do I import the model so that all 4 meshes show up under the materials window. Thanks.

First are you sure that your item is selected first before you go to the material editor to see it in the materials editor? Sharen

Yes it is selected.

You may be able to do this in RDS, however I know for a certainty that you can easily do it in the free program UVMapper.

Open your OBJ file in that program and go to Edit/select by group. You can then assign to a material. Save and bring back into Poser and your materials will be available for you.

Doesn't it have to be an OBJ to run through UVMapper? Or will the current version accept other formats? I'm still learning UVMapper, and it would be nice to know. Melanie

ahh I see, no it only takes OBJ format. RDS is short for Ray Dream Studio, the name of a modeling program. Sorry to confuzzly you :)

Hey Phil, thanks for the advise. I just did what you said and it worked like a charm. Again thanks a million.
