I installed xp , since than i have no more troubles importing lager files.before, about 12 megs filesize was max. what i did before, I put a simple sphere near the obj that i wanted to export and exported it every time with the parts of the big object.so i had a thing for positioning the seperate imported parts later.but its only a little help
Yes 12 megs is about my limit too. I see what you mean about the sphere. Ive tried something similar.
Pity. I was hoping against hope that youd reveal the location of the Import Setting Dialogue that somehow didnt make it into the manual but would solve my problem in two simple mouseclicks. =) No such luck.
I dont know about XP just yet. Probably should be thinking about upgrading my whole rig before that...
im not sure about this... seems like ive loaded some stuff that was really big and it worked out fine then ive loaded stuff that was all messed up like you say about the stuff youre making i think it has to do with the program thats doing the modeling do you use rhino? if you then i remember seeing something in the rhino forum about this kind stuff there was something special that you had to do before exporting if you use rhino go check out their forum here and look around,it was a very recent question pertaining to this i hope ive helped a little anyway...... cheers!
I've imported a 40Mb mesh into Bryce 4 and now Bryce 5 (demo), with no problem. It took quite a little while, but it worked. And, I have a slow-butt cpu with only 64mb of ram on windows 98se. Maybe try importing your models with a different file extension? Agent Smith

Now this may be an utterly stupid go-read-the-manual-question. If so I apologize.
Heres my problem. I model in other apps, then import into Bryce and render. Sometimes my my models are too complex, and hence the files to big, to import in one go. So I import my model in pieces. But my imported pieces just flop down bang in the middle of the scene, all the same size so the relative scale is all wrong... Reassembling them in Bryce drives me up the wall.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there an "Import Setting" hidden away somewhere in the interface where I can check som box or other so that my imported models at least keep their relative size? Or is this just the way it is? Grin and bear it?
