Christmas wish list, for all the diggies out there....well I will wait till its price drops and start filing dollars away in an envelope. Nikon CoolPix 5000, Sony's got a new one too.....drool........since we dont buy christmas gifts for each other, only the kids, I can't ask my husband, but I am starting an envelope for a new camera, unless Santa exists and this appears under my tree. If anyone has heard anything good or bad about it let me know. Its probably been out five months already but I only just noticed it. I love my coolpix......LOL

I've heard nothing about the Coolpix. I can say however, that for point and shoot stuff, I've heard nothing but good about the Elph (i think its a sony, not sure). Pros are saying it delivers spot on pics nearly everytime, which is odd for a point and shoot eh. Well, you could ask Colm, cause after all, a present doesnt have to be specifically a "christmas" present... ry

Syyd-- In you weren't already aware of this, here is the link to a VERY comprehensive review. I owned a Nikon 950 and then a Nikon 990; the 5000 camera is a big sister to them; I am in a D30 now, and not looking back, so I have paid no attention to the 5000. Still from my experience with the smaller versions, I would say you pay close attention to anything anyone says about 1. battery usage, 2. file size vs. memory capacity, and 3. cycle speed (how long before you can take another shot). The 950 and 990 took great pictures alright and they were fun to use, unless you wanted to take a lot of pictures in a few hours, then it was nothing but frustrating. This camera will have even larger file sizes, so unless Nikon has addressed the camera write speed and battery use issues, the 5000 has the potential to be even worse in this respect. My two cents, which in a recession is worth .7 cents LOL. Sue

Thanks all......without a chance to have it reviewed, I wont budge...Slynky thanks, but Im already using one with a 3.34 megapixel, but I think the elph is used alot. I wanted to make a jump to the 5's for more detail. Sue thanks for the .07, almost NY STATE TAX for a thought ROFLMAO....also for the url, Much appreciateD! Ferdnik, christmas is for big kids too, isn't it? Well, I will tell you, what I usually do, is pick out something and ponder it for months, and put money in my little envelope. I have to pay the mortgage and bills first before I even consider a new camera, but I am itching for one in the worst way, and a trip to somewhere warm and sunny, and a new roof, but I REALLY WANT A CAMERA....oh well, enough rants, I've spoken to Santa personally and he says if you are real good you might get that camera, and so will I, and we can dream and I will shut up now.

The G2 is a sweeeet camera, as was the G1 before it, and both take awesome pix. If we are doing wish lists, I want a 600 mm /2.8 lens with image stabilization, and USM LOL. If anyone ever makes one, I probably won't be able to lift it...

Well I think what we need is a Santa of Cameras....no little elf, a great big Santa with a great big bag full of cameras and accessories....

Santa lives here in Finland, so maybe I can persuade him. .Niko without the last n.

I say you bat yer big eyelashes at Colm until he caves. I've seen a few 3.3+ mega pixels for 600$ Canadian. U guys should think about maybe importing from canada, sometimes, considering the dollar exchange, our stuff is a steal. The Elph, even with its mega pixel thingie, is still supposedly a damn good camera, especially considering its size. I think its running pretty darn cheap at future shop right now... I'm gonna be using a Canon GL-1 DV camera on tuesday for my clay/putermation. Love that thing, its TOO nice. back to work on the big momma, and insulting Jordy's accent on ICQ, lol.
