Well, I started modeling the Travis' dragon in Rhino. This is about 3 hours work...I tried to get as much detail as I could in the head this time instead of making something semi-detailed.

I started out by drawing three profile curves (Top, Middle, Bottom) to do my loft. Then I shaped it to the rough look I wanted and began to add detail by adding more isoparms (knots) and point editing them as I went.

To get the webbing between the jaws, I simply selected a few of the middle row of points (viewed from the right) and moved them inward (did that in the front view). Then I gave the points a weight of 2 to increase their strength.

Moving on to the nose and eyes, I inserted about six isoparms for each and shaped the nose, making sure to move the center most point inward (again, done in the front view). I applied a weight of 2 to that point also. THe eyes wer simple this time. I simple selected a rough outline of the eye area as seen in Travis' image and then moved them inward. In the Right view, I then scale2D them to shrink the area a bit. The rest was just shaping and point weights.

The horns were seperate lofts, though I should have used spheres because the horn lofts gave me some trouble with their normals when I tried to join everything together. This second post is where the model is now.

I normally work by making the body first, then the head, and then the legs but after seeing Travis' WIP's I just had to see what Rhino could do....

Future plans include a small amount of horns cirvling the eye area a little and of course a body...

So here's the nearly finished head. I forgot to mention that Travis neglected to define some form of hearing in the sketch, so I added ear holes in the back of the head because I think it should have 'em. :)

that looks great so far it has a solid feel to it i like the ears and how the muscles in the neck transfer into it eyes look terrific to ! no suggestions really maybe a lil more muscle on the lower jaw at the back but cant wait to see the teeth in it looks sharp ! LOL the name you gave it !:)

Thanks. Okay, here's the update...Travis, your idea about detailing the lower jaw is a good one and I'll see to it if I can. I added legs (see my leg tutorial at the Rhino Forum for details). Then I lofted a set of curves to make the gums and instead of using spheres (again, not very wise on my part), I lofted two curves and a point to get the teeth. The Tounge is a sphere that I rebuilt and point edited. I then split the tounge near the back of the mouth and blended it to the inner mouth hole (big black hole in the images before this one). More to come.

I almost forgot...the body is a loft made from four profile curves. I then added knots and point edited the the body to a rough approximation of Travis' design. I plan on adding more nifty things to him though.

man this is turning into a kick assss forum from the begiiners to the old farts ! Teyon this is looking great i told you you made awesome feet and claws i was having trouble making the rear legs but it looks as if you tackled it with ease ! no suggestions just a little praise sorry !:)
