I would very much appreciate any suggestions on how I could improve the falling water or ever give me alternative suggestions on how to make it more realistic, including alternative materials. To create the water, I duplicated the terrain and cut out the water and applied the foamy water material. I am realy dissapointed at the reslut, and have tried different lightings to bring out different looks of the water, but without satisfaction. Also, I would very much appreciate similar suggestions on the base of the waterfall, to create more realistic vapor (before post-processing) Thank's in advance!

What an awesome start to this. Love the composition itself, and the plants and lighting look great. :) The water itself needs, I think, a bit more reflection to catch the light. The water material is already reflective, so it might need some bump to either the water object or to the material...just more areas to catch light. You might find it works better to simply scale down the water material to a much smaller size, helping the "foam" show up moreso. I've got some waterfall tips at this link, including creating the "spray" at the base. Maybe something there will help. :)

I had a long look at your image and think the left waterfall is quite good. The right one is a bit too straight. I agree with what Varian said, it neds more reflection or more light anyhow. You could add some terrains mapped with transparent MILK material, you also could use clouds on it or... make the waterfall a bit glowing. What helps also is to bring up the material more shiny in using the effct tab. I have some tutorials for water splashes (don't worry, it is for Vue 4 also), if you like to have a look. But do not give up this image, it needs a little more light and sometimes, by chance, you can get great effects in doing very little. The vegetation is great also, do not change it. If you like, you also could have a look at a very old image of mine, created in Vue 2. Lots of clouds, milk and milk again :-) http://www.multimania.com/arte/landscapes.html The image onthe page is called "after storm". Just try a little more. I'm happy to see the following edition of your image :-) Guitta

My last waterfall I used a 'Mounds' style terrain for the foam at the base with a modified version of the foamy water material to make it a bit brighter and with a slight color change. The mist I postworked in photoshop though. Beautiful lighting and vegetation in this. I'll be keeping an eye out for the final version. :D Rich

Sorry... I don't have a suggestion about the waterfall, but I do have a suggestion about the rest : DON'T CHANGE IT :) The foreground look great.

Hey, this is nicely done, Peter! Thanks for putting it together! Please add it to our tutorial database (at the link) so it will always be easy for others to locate. :)
