Subject: Get "Shrugging Man" icon about half the time when saving to library

What kinds of things cause me to get the "shrugging man" icon instead of a proper thumbnail when saving a face pose or prop to the library? It seems to happen about half the time, and with all kinds of files...

Did you make sure the prop was selected before saving it? I know that sounds silly, but its tripped me up more often than not.

Do you use Propack? I get that a lot with Poser Propack. If so, what I do instead is render a small image 93x93 and save it to the directory as a .png file with the same name as the file. If you're not using Propack, then sorry... Lourdes

Yep, I'm using the Pro Pack. The issue doesn't seem to be related to whether the item is selected or not, and it always stores the geometry info--it just fails to make the .PNG file. I started rendering them myself as you suggested--it's nice to see the thumbnails with hair now. ^_^

I (a non-ProPack user) had similar problems with straight Poser4. Only I got a blank thumbnail rather than "Shrugman" It turned out to be an incompatibility with my graphics card! New graphix card=real thumbnails... Have you changed cards? If you have an old one you upgraded from, maybe you might try swapping it out for a test?

I'm using a GeForce 2 GTS, which has been around awhile. Poser Pro Pack has done this periodically ever since I installed it. I may look into getting the newest video drivers, though. In any case, I'm finding that I like the better quality and control I have when creating the thumbnails as renders anyway--the workaround turned out to be an improvement over the original method. ^_^
