Stupid title, I know. :) Well, I couldn't make the nose and chin any better using the V2 dials, so I made a custom morph to fix them. This was my first time doing a morph. Thanks to the great tutorials people have contributed to this site, I was able to painlessly make morphs to correct problem areas. Only took an hour or so to get the hang of it, which was great. So there's the new model. Clothes, hair and background are all from an older promo photo, and the face is all Poser (with a little bit of Photoshop post work to match the tone, brightness, and contrast). Edges were blended, colors matched, and so on and so forth. What do you think? See any bad spots? Seeing as this is my first attempt at making a character to distribute, I really want to make everything perfect. :) Please, post your comments. Thanks for looking.

That's very very very good indeed. Congratulations, that's the best Scully characterisation I've seen to date. Well done. Not being particularly good at characters I can't see much wrong with this, but I'm sure someone will give you the feedback you want. :)

Absolutely great job, the best that was done of Scully!

I like her. What program did you use to make the morphs? I can't get Anim8tor to work with Vicki. Is this done with magnets? Anyway, she looks nice. I think Gillian's face is a smig more round, though. And Scully doesn't wear that much eye make-up.

Exceptional progress! Since you ask, 2 Suggestions; Gillian's eyes slope downward toward the edges of her face, and there's less arch in her brows.

Excellent likeness.

Looks really good. Best lickness of her I have seen

That is really close! Nice work. There's a saying that a portrait is a picture of a face where there's something wrong with the mouth. ;^) i don't have Poser in front of me, but i think that Upper Lip Curves dial--if that's the one?--it's the one that defines the curve of the top of the upper lip--needs to go less negative, according to the glamor shot. But that could be the comparison of two different angles. Gillian has such a delightfully asymmetrical face!

Since this appears to be a hot topic, here's my go at it using V2 and some custom magnets.

[[ clapping ]] What fun! Our own Gillian contest! Keith, is the mole on the correct side? i think Jaager has some morph targets for Vicki at www.jaager.com that will help the eyes, especially. And a nice gentleman name Ralph Elzholtz made an excellent chin morph that would help. Heh. Now i might have to try!

nfredman: I had the shape of the lips dead on, but when I went to make this image, I had to part the lips a bit to match the original pose of her in the photo. Poser in general is kind of weak when it comes to mouth movements.
That's been my experience, anyway. Making mouth movements is easy, but when you're working off an actual reference photo, its difficult to get them to match up. Anyway, the mouth is more accurate than this photo appears. And like you said, its a bit off due to the fact that we're comparing two different photos. The promo picture I used has her mouth a bit more defined and with higher arched eyebrows; the glamour shot leather-guy posted is an example of her looking different from one photo to another. I've been trying to recreate the look of different photos so that I can make changes and get a more accurate look.

Anyway, I'm going to be done pretty soon with this character, and I'm trying to decide who to do next. Wait, that didn't sound right. :) Ok, I'm trying to decide who to model next. There we go. I like modelling real people in Poser... its a hell of a challenge. Maybe Angelina Jolie? I saw someone made an awesome Jolie model before, but its not around any longer. Its a shame.

By the way, if anyone has a hair model or a transmap for a hair model that matches Scully's, I'd be interested in including it when I put this character in FreeStuff. Full credit will be given, of course. Also, a Sig 9mm and a trenchcoat would kick ass. There are plenty of shirts and pants available for Vicky, so that won't be a problem.
Let me know if you have something to add. :)

i think Vairesh actually created a "Dana" hair that has the good ol' Scully look. Of course, that's a purchase item, so won't go into Free Stuff. Heh, now you know why i ended up making NINE character faces when i did my set for sale! It's hard to quit.

I bought Vairesh's "Dana" hair for the purpose of using it for rendering. its a great model, but needed a little bit of tweaking on the trans map to make it match better. But like you said, its not free, so I couldn't distribute it with the character. Ideally, I'd like to have everything in one .zip to make it easier, but I realize this might not be possible -- short of making the hair and clothes myself. Might give that a go. I always thought making a morph would be hard, but it was a lot easier once you actually get into it. Same thing probably applies to the hair and clothes. Hopefully someone has or can included hair.
