I thought it would be a good idea to practice conforming on the Poser girl, (less curves *g*), and with a piece of clothing that already was modelled and that I knew fitted. So I decided to give it a try with Rubios dress for the Poser girl. Actually I only need a new texture (that I have made), - but as I said try to actually CONFORM something to existing figures. Here is what I did: 1) Opened the obj. file in UV mapper, - No remapping needed, so I saved the model with a new name: coat.obj and the texture file. 2) Imported the file into poser, checked that it fitted the girl, - exported it out of Poser with the same name. 3) Opened it in PHI builder, - didn't change anything, just saved it as a PHI file 4) brought it in Poser via convert HIER - file 5) Brought the girl in, - fitted the dress on her. Opened the Joint Editor, - and made the same settings on the dress as the girl has for the corresponding joints. 6) Added the coat to my library. Deleted it from the girl. And broguht it back in, up to the Figure menu, chose "conform to" - (figure 1 - the girl). And look what happened! :( Where did I go wrong? Oh, - and here is the PHI file: #This file generated by PHI Builder V2.0 objFile :Runtime:Geometries:rubio:coat.obj 1 hip yxz 2 abdomen yxz 3 chest xyz 3 lCollar xyz 3 lForeArm xyz 3 lShldr xyz 3 lThigh xyz 3 rCollar xyz 3 rForeArm xyz 3 rShldr xyz 3 rThigh xyz

I edited the .cr2 file, - and saved a copy of it. I deleted the RSR file, - still getting the same result. :(

You're running into the snag that most people run into. Your rotation orders are wrong and conforming clothes have a lot of extra lines in their .cr2's that helps them conform properly. The easiest way is to take an existing .cr2 that has the same body parts and use it for your dress. I use JStallings .cr2 program to edit my cr2 files. It's a lot easier than using a text editor program. ScottA

..same body parts as "my" (read: Rubio's :) object? Or can I use for instance the girl's cr2 file? What I did, was taking Rubios cr2 file and edited that. Of course i'm not sure that HIS cloths will conform to the Poser girl, - but I kinda assumed that. (will go and test that) The manual is a bit "foggy" for me (Ok... I'm foggy too. lol got a bad sinus infection), since they use a horse. That is 2 too many legs + a tail I don't need. grin What they explain with the horse example is how to "conform a new horse". So I thought it would be logical to bring in the "girl", - and simply use the same "settings" as she has, when I'm working with the Joint-editor. Am I thinking correctly? Thank you so much for responding Scott. I'm sorry if I'm not coherent today. I should prolly have waited till the penicillin kicked in before I tried to make this work, - but there are 10 kids waiting for me to get that advent calendar working on Dec. 1st :( Britt

You need to go back to step 3. PHI builder will give you a starting point by listing out all the groups it can see in the OBJ file. You have to sort them manually into the correct order. Currently the PHI file is saying that everything is connected to the abdomen. The correct PHI should read:-

objFile :Runtime:Geometries:rubio:coat.obj
1 hip yxz
&nbsp2 abdomen yxz
3 chest yxz
4 lCollar xyz
5 lShldr xyz
6 lForeArm xyz
4 rCollar xyz
5 rShldr xyz
6 rForeArm xyz
2 lThigh yxz
2 rThigh yxz

You may also need to include a dummy neck to keep the chest aligned

I can read that PHI file. And it makes sense to me!!! Even through my sinus infected brain (I'm sure there is such a thing... cuz I feel like it doesn't work when I need it to! lol), - and not only that. I think I understand it!! I'll go back and "re-group" my army! grin And then proceed with the rest of the steps. Phil! Thank you! Now I may be able to sleep tonight! :)
