iam new at this but is there a way to change the bryce meshes to a different format like dfx or obj so they can be used else where.?????????? or is there a way to animate poser figures in bryce???????

Okay, to the first question. Nope. the .br4 or .br5 format is unique for some reason; the only meshes that will export are the terrains, which, I gather, is because of their fractal nature. On the second, it youre lucky enough to be on a PC, there are a couple of programs out there that will allow you to import Poser animations. One is Susannah; theres a link further in the threads where to find it. If youre on a Mac, it has to be done manually with the Poser figure exported in pieces (not grouped; you cannot ungroup it in Bryce) and with a lot of preplanning.

thanks i will have a look for Susannah, iam very knew at this and i have got an idea of making a space ship with animated people on it, i can build the ship quite easy in bryce, but stuck on the people thing. maybe i should start with some thing a little easyer????

Drop a note to Konan. Hes sort of the Poser to Bryce guru around here. And yep, Id start with something a tad easier. =)

Inver, please note that terrains can be exported because they are based on fractals, whereas objects made from primitives arent. Frankly, I dont understand why Bryce cannot export its constructions, and I hope they correct this in 6.

YAWN. The Bryce .OBP / .BR* binary file format for objects is as impenetrable as Area 51 and I have got nowhere with trying to decode it. It seems to be deliberately encrypted. I get the impression that Bryce objects can be exported as .OBJ IF they don't use any Bryce booleaning and they don't include Bryce-created cubes or cylinders or suchlike. In Bryce booleaning the meshes are not actually welded like e.g. Ray Dream Studio does, but they merely come with instructions not to render any part of mesh X which is inside / outside part Y and suchlike.

Anthony, I read that Clay (the moderator) had tried to un-decipher OBP format. Perhaps he can help. I cannot see why Corel does not seem to want open Bryce to third party developers. Makers of any other 3d package bend over backward trying to woo 3rd parties to create add-ons.
