This is a standard tree from the presets in bryce 4.Can anyone tell me a way to get the silhouette really sharp? I tried sharpening in photoshop but no good. Thanks for any help and I really hope this isn't a lame question hehe. CT

Its not a lame question at all. That tree uses a highly feathered alpha channel, which makes it worthless for renders that big unless you copy the alpha into Photoshop, sharpen the hell out of it, and reimport back into Bryce.

Are you using Bryce5? 'cos it looks like you've got some focal blur on the image. (The upper leaves are further away from the camera and they're sharp!) Try disabling the focal blur. If you're using 4 then ... wierd! :)

I didn't have a sharpness problem until I put the tree right up to the camera. Backing it off a bit and making it larger to keep the perspective seems to have worked on that account. Is this what you were trying to get? I hate the moons, they are just not realistic.

Thanks for everyone's attempts at fixing the problem. VirtualSite-I don't know much about alpha channels but I guess what you're saying is this is just the way it is... Prodag-The image looks almost identical to my original and you didn't say what you did to it... hogwardenwork-I'm using bryce 4... EricofSD-You have the sharpness I was looking for and you're right about moving the tree away from the camera but I think I tried that and couldn't get the desired effect... I would have preferred to have long branches hanging down from either side with the moonlight and sky barely visible but I couldn't achieve this with the presets...oh well thanks for your ideas guys

If you want long branches hanging down, try turning up the gravity in the tree lab.
