"The Company will continue to leverage its graphics software technology to develop and deploy strategic authoring capabilities for MetaStream e-commerce visualization. This will include some of the Company's current award-winning 3D products and related technologies. The Company intends to continue providing technical support of all of its products." All is not lost. They'll still support it all (patches)maybe?

You can do really amazing stuff with Animation Master that rivals much higher priced high-end software. I've seen character models created with it that have realistic muscle motion and bending of joints, a glaring weakness of Poser. Their latest beta version even has realistic cloth movement. Yes, it's available for both Windows and Mac. The only problem with it is that no one in their web community seems willing to create realistic human models and morphs that can do what Poser does so easily and share them, although it can be done. A a reult, you have to build your own animatable human from ground up, which is no easy task even with its features. The impression I get from their forums is that most of their forum members are professional animators, which would explain their reluctance. The Poser people, in contrast, are far more willing to share their work with the community.

One might suspect that a fairly current version of the (nearly complete) beta poser patch might end up leaking out if no further work is done.
