Subject: Adding and linking vertices

Everytime I add new vertices with the add tool(while holding "v") the link option will remain locked after linking two vertices, what am i doing wrong here? I've been trying to model a Jeep Cherokee but so far I have achieved nothing as a result og my inability to link vertices and pull and whatever. Can somebody recomend a tutorial where the precess of vertex modelling is treated exhaustively, because the tutorial in the software didn't tell me much, honestly this is so frustrating,I've gon e through the tutorial a million times but heck,it didn't tell me much about vertex modelling(automobile to be precise) I am sorry for posting this lengthy boring message but i am trying to make a point here. please somebody save me i am having a bad time,i can't quit,I just can't,animation is my life.

Have you checked the tutorials link above ^. There are a few that cover the Vertice modeler, however none for an automobile. None the less, the basic idea is the same. Check the ones by Litst, he works in there more often then not.

Grafikdon, I hear ya! I have had some issues with Carrara, that many of the people on this forum have helped me out with, However there is some good news. I found a book a boarders book store, Called Carrara 1 Bible. It's AWSOME, though it shows off all the features to the program, it has some good information on the modeler, that that silly assed manual only mentions. The Books ISBN number is 0-7645-3375-4 Now mind you this book does not cover the 1.1 upgrade issues, but it works hands down.. Just some food for thought, there is also a "Carrara 1 for Dummies" book but I have not got that yet. hope that helps Blacksteel

In Mac OS:

  1. Add vertex using the Add tool, which looks like a + on a line.
  2. Make sure you go back to the regular selection tool (arrow cursor icon) after adding the vertex
  3. Hold down shift key and select a vertex to link to the new vertex.
  4. Open the Selection menu and click "Link", and it will draw a line. Then deselect that pair of linked vertices if you don't want to pull it.
  5. To pull a group of vertices, select them with the marquee tool, or click one vertex, then click others nearby while holding down the shift key.

Whether you hold down the shift key or some other to add consecutive selections to the current selection in Windows, I don't know.
