so, this is my surrealistic picture... anyway, a lot of the detail is lost at this size, so I also posted in the gallery... For instance, you can't see the expression on the cat's face that asks "what am I doing here?"... The one in the gallery doesn't show that either.. It's the 1600X1200 that really brings out this picture, but somebody would shoot me if I posted that... :) anyway, this is influenced by DeChirico and Magritte.. The Dechirico influence is in the shadows.. The shadows in this picture are objects as well... And I've used various Magritte motifs... The bowler hat is by Virus, the umbrella by trimax, the rose by cindy at trillium36.com, the gateway is by lanover, he calls it a door :), the stairs by JohnSta, the glass urn by trimax and the bird was suggested by Steve... the reason the rain looks so realistic is because I poured a pitcher of water into the computer until it came out of the cloud... It ruined the computer, but that's the price you pay for your art... :) Nah, I'm only kidding, I did that in photopaint and brought it in as an alpha plane.. Same thing with the drops on the egg... Anyway, as the dreaming egg looks out upon the scene in it's mind, it knows that across the pale parabola of joy, it's embryonic journey is about to end and laments that it will no longer see the fairy of radiant head dress that would visit and pour upon him through half open hands perfumed stars... :)

I did the boolean dove carve out in Rhino... and used the solid as the glowing dove on the man's back... That Rhino, gotta love it.. :)

Thank you folks for all the nice comments... apparently, the gallery picture never took, I'm going to have to re-upload again... anyway, the rain was done in the following manner... You go into photopaint, paint shop pro, photoshop and draw somethign that looks like a raindrop... Draw a couple of these so that they look like different raindrops... Assign it to a brush... this is easier in Photopaint or Paint Shop Pro.. So now whenever you click you're going to get a different sized rain drop.... Keep clicking until you start getting somethign that looks like rain.... Hopefully you made your raindrops of different sizes so it looks natural... anyway, save that rain scene... Create an alpha mask... Open up Vue... Create a plane... click on the texture editor.. Bring in the rain picture... Then go to transparency, put it to 100%, click on variable transparency, edit, then bring in the alpha pic... Click ok and now size the plane until you see the rain as what you had originally... Position that over the object and you have your rain... :) When doing the rain originally, you may want to bring into Photopaint or whatever a version of your picture, this way you can make sure you make the rain the right size...

John, I'm glad that you liked it, thanks... that's actually a model from Trillium 36 flower collection... I just dissected it and took off the stem and the leaves and left just the flower...

Hey Rich and Irene, thank you very much for the kind words...

tradivoro ( ) posted Wed, 28 November 2001 at 10:58 PM

Well, the gallery finally accepted the picture.. This is a bigger picture and has better detail... Here's some advice in life, don't upload a tiff cause it won't take it... That's what happened last night, although last night it didn't give me any error messages.. Today the error messages were that the file was too big, even though dimensionally and byte size, it was correct... I uploaded it as a jpg and it took it without murmur... I didn't read anywhere that it doesn't accept tiff's...

MightyPete ( ) posted Wed, 28 November 2001 at 11:15 PM

Gif, jpg and png is the only files that work on the web unless you got some kind of a pluggin to display a different kind.

tradivoro ( ) posted Wed, 28 November 2001 at 11:26 PM

Well, thanks for that update Pete... I didn't know that at this point in time, that was still the only things... :)

Varian ( ) posted Thu, 29 November 2001 at 12:45 AM

tradivoro ( ) posted Thu, 06 December 2001 at 3:49 PM

Yeap, that's what I said above, though it might have gotten lost in the shuffle.. The rose is from trillium36...
