Subject: Ideas for new galleries: Humor, Political Humor, and Seasonal

I have some ideas for new art galleries, here at Renderosity. What does anyone think about: Humor Images in this gallery are funny or humorous. They can be made with any program or a mixture of programs (Poser, Vue, Bryce, etc.). As a general rule, the image must be suitable for the entire family to view and can contain NO nudity and be limited to "cartoon" violence. Viewers could go straight to this gallery to see something funny or just for a good laugh without having to look through every other gallery. Political Humor/ Commentary Images in this gallery will be of a political nature and can be made with any media/ software program. Any topics can be covered here- nudity, violence and non-"politically correct" themes could be part of the image. Viewers who go to this gallery would know that there could be images that might "offend" their "values". This gallery would also be a gallery of "free expression" for artists to post their "controversial" artwork without worrying about the "masses" of people making comments. Seasonal Images in this gallery, will be of (what else)- holidays. It's a little late for Halloween and Thanksgiving, but Christmas, Hannukah, and New Years' are right around the corner. These images can be made with any program or a mixture of programs (Poser, Vue, Bryce, etc.) and should also be suitable for the entire family (NO nudity and NO violence). Viewers could jump straight to this gallery to see how other artists observe the holidays. Of course, if you have a funny Christmas image that you created entirely in Poser, you'll have to use you judgement about where to post it! --John

Thanks for the ideas. "Topical" galleries are something that has been discussed, but it's a difficult transition from the application based galleries we currently have. We'll probably land on a mixture sometime down the road. Russell

Here's a possible compromise- If you can't do "topical" galleries, what about adding a new pull-down box of classifications (on the "upload image" screen)? This way, the classification would be displayed under the thumbnail so people would know what kind of image they would be seeing (a large number of thumbnails don't give a good idea of what the image is). People could also do a search on this field (in all galleries) to see only those images. But, artists would still have to post their image in one of the "application" galleries. Of course, I don't know how easy or hard it would be to do something like this. :) --John
