In an earlier thread (http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=487034) I was asked to clarify my ramblings about fiddling with Vue's lights to jazz up the colors a bit. Here's a brief description for anyone who might want to try it out. Choose an atmosphere Reduce the Global Exposure by half as much as the Ambient % Set Light balance to 0% Ambient - 100 % Sunlight Reduce Cloud Global illum + Near the sun much as you increased the Sunlight Copy+Paste Sun, spin to point in opposite direction, set to no shadows Set to complementary color and Lum 133 + Sat 33 (or thereabouts...) Copy+Paste again, set to point out of camera (and slightly downwards) Set to desired toning color and adjust Lum to taste ...and start fine-tuning. I find that I usually only have to tune the global exposure and the camera sun, but I've only just begun fiddling with this setup. The setup can be used in any app (including Poser) that allows you to control shadows and ambience. Bryce is a bit tricky, as it has only on global light, but you can get far with really king-sized area lights. Have fun.

Here's a repost of the before-and-after example from the earlier post. Plain ol' Posette, no tex map, just a Vue skin mat.

Great details, Thip, thanks very much! :) p.s. when posting images containing nudity, be sure to set the Nudity flag on the post. I'll get this one changed, but just keep it in mind for the future. :)

Whoops! Sorry, won't happen again. Never really noticed the nudity. Dunno who should be more offended by that - the unprepared readers of the thread, or Posette ;o)

Thanks Thip. Lighting is so important to a perfect scene. I'm so lousy at it. Thanks for the tips, printing them out and going to give it a try.

You're welcome, all - and be sure to post some threads and renders with what you learn. I've just tripped over several light tutes myself, so I'm just beginning to see how much one can "paint" with light. Couldn't resist posting my latest experiment - it's Vicki in front of the fireplace, with default DAZ tex, rendered in Poser, no post. 3-point light plus warm and cold "rim lights". I've seen it done much better'n I can, but it really gives a glow to the skin.

That's some good info Thip. Thanks alot for sharing it! Now if I can tear myself away from learning how to draw I'll give it a try! Rich

Great tips thip!!! Thanks so much :). I was so used to using two (one for the main light and one slightly blue one to color the shadow). Your images look great :). See, even an old dog like me can learn new tricks...LOL. Laurie
