Subject: Raydrem 3D- whats missing in Carrara

I gat Carrara studio about 2 months ago and have been learning it. A friend has Raydream and so I went over to see what it is like and found it very interesting! Like my first ever 3D program Simply 3D it has wizards for making different types of projects. This is great for beginners and imagine even for professionals on a time crunch. I would like to see this in V2. It wasn't just the pre done lighting set up and animations or text, but also a wizard for spline objects letting you define how many layers and the shape of each. I only had time to look at it briefly but it looked useful. My Questions: 1) to Raydreamers, do you use the wizards or find them useful? Improvable? 2) to Cararra users, would you like wizards and if so what type(s). Thanks! As a final thought anyone know if the SDK could let you make a wizard?

I used the Wizzad on occasion in RDS & it is good for quick things and to study shapes. The biggest things missing are the nudge short-cuts, window short-cuts, multi-monitor support & QTVR cameras. But, if you never had a chance to use them before then I guess you can't miss them. Don't know if the SDK would support that feature.

ppowellaa, Carrara's SDK supports a plug in called a scene operator. It's what I used to build Master Lights, Environment Lighting, and a bunch of other stuff. It would be an excellent tool for building a wizard. Not sure how interactive you could be with the UI, but it gives you access to the scene and from there you can make all kinds of changes including changing positions, adding and deleting objects, setting properties, etc. Grab the SDK and give it a whirl. I can honestly say I have never used the wizard feature of RDS. Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, but I just jumped right in and started doing things from the ground up. I doubt I'd use them if they were in Carrara, but if they're useful for other folks, I'd say bring 'em on! I think I'd rather see Eovia put their energy into developing bones for C2, though.... - Dex

When i was using the RDS demo, i almost never used the wizards . So i don't miss them in Carrara . But one thing i find very helpful in C are the presets for the Wind atmosphere and the particles emitter .
