Peej ( ) posted Wed, 12 December 2001 at 11:23 PM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 6:04 AM

I keep seeing all these great buildings by Marforno. Who or what is Marforno? Peej

Cin- ( ) posted Wed, 12 December 2001 at 11:38 PM

Marforno is a person... his name is Martin. :)

Lorraine ( ) posted Thu, 13 December 2001 at 9:30 AM

he is very nice and his rooms are wonderful...they are not available except through him as of yet...unless things have changed recently...

igohigh ( ) posted Thu, 13 December 2001 at 1:42 PM

He had a Balcony set here in FreeStuff, you may try searching for Balcony, Martin, or Marforno (his screen name). It was posted about a month ago I think...

thgeisel ( ) posted Thu, 13 December 2001 at 2:29 PM

Think its no longer there.

cwshorty ( ) posted Thu, 13 December 2001 at 2:33 PM

I've been trying to get a hold of him myself, his work is great!

thgeisel ( ) posted Thu, 13 December 2001 at 2:58 PM

I got some things from castle development group here in the marketplace ,there are seperate columns,arches..... and one can assemble it in poser. And they look really good. And Dmentia (look under Affiliated Artist )has some balkon for free

Peej ( ) posted Thu, 13 December 2001 at 5:03 PM

Thank you all for replying. How does one contact him? Anyone have an addy? Is he a Frequent Forum Lurker? Peej

Poppi ( ) posted Thu, 13 December 2001 at 6:40 PM

I have never seen him in the forums. But, my real world life makes me miss alot. I do know, that his is well respected, and, makes the poser hot 20 with almost everything tht he posts. good luck finding him. Pop...Pop...Poppi!!!

Talos ( ) posted Fri, 14 December 2001 at 9:55 PM

I sure can't find him. He has a gallery all right, but no web page, nothing in the store, yet people keep annoyingly displaying his admittedly nice products repeatedly. Some kind of well kept secret for the secret society of exclusive Poser users. His latest seems to be a neat thing called "Doom Temple". :-(

igohigh ( ) posted Sat, 15 December 2001 at 11:57 AM

Sorry folks, I found him but he states that he can no longer access Renderostiy as TOO MANY were IM'ing him and making it miserable to even try to log on.

cwshorty ( ) posted Sat, 15 December 2001 at 4:11 PM

Well that would explain why I got no reply, oh well I'll just continue to drool over his wonderful work, not about to bother someone that doesn't want to be bothered. wimper wimper....

igohigh ( ) posted Sat, 15 December 2001 at 6:36 PM

I hope I wasn't too 'bunt' above, one does have to realize what it would be like if you were to attempt to log on here (or anywhere) only to have a 'mile long' screen pop up with seemingly endless IM messages (stop and picture it for a moment) You wouldn't even be able to scroll down and find Renderosity itself..... Sure it may be 'flatering' at first, but if it just keeps continuing then it would soon become a real bother, then and outright nusiance, then downright untolratable. I know this not because I am a modler nor even an artist but I experianced a simular issue in '99 when a little freebie saver I posted made many mailing lists and my humble website was shut down do to band-width, the e-mails began to litteraly FLOOD my mail box......yes, flatering at first, but soon it became a nightmare! I couldn't possably e-mail out 50 to 100 2meg files a day on a dial-up, let alone respond to every one. Yes, many of us will go without these lovely pieces, but hey, the poor guy didn't even make any money and now he can't even log on to see what others have to offer that he might like to have. I think another thread I once read summed it up nicely about IM'ing "Send Only One, and if others have done so already, hold off and wait to see what answer they get" (or something like that). Yes, I too would like some of the wonderful pieces of Marforno's that I have seen, but unless we want to run the poor guy off completly perhaps we should all just let him rest now....and yes, drool (wipping my own keyboard)

cwshorty ( ) posted Sat, 15 December 2001 at 7:41 PM

You were not too blunt at all, and I totally understand. It would probably be easier on him if he would post just a general response in the forum. I realize that he doesn't have to and has every right to remain as private as he wants. Igohigh, thanks for the info.

Poppi ( ) posted Sat, 15 December 2001 at 7:44 PM

I couldn't possably e-mail out 50 to 100 2meg files a day on a dial-up, let alone respond to every one. bcc is a wonderful function. But, heyas....I am sure this guy totally enjoys his Hot 20 limelight. I am sure this guy totally enjoys seeing his praises touted by others in the galleries. He makes...what? Walls, vases, room decorations with a 3d modelling program? but, wait...does he also make textures for them...walls are simple. extruding a vase is simple. columns are simple,as well. just the texturing is boring, and time consuming. what confuses me...is...why is this person deemed to be so very special, here? is it because he is kind and caring? is it because he has contributed alot to the forums, or freestuff? is it because his talent so greatly exceeds the potential that the rest of us possess? is it because he came in here, and, like on "Survivor"...made the correct alliances to further himself? i'm just asking questions, here? feel free, you all, to answer. Pop...Pop...Poppi!!!

Poppi, I only stumbled onto one of Morforno's freebies a few weeks ago, a fantastic terrace prop with great textures. I have seen many others he has done used in the galleries. I have only spoken (e-mailed via the included readme) twice after using his prop, he was very kind, complimentive with me. Since then I have seen several that seem to be 'searching' for his stuff, I tried helping a couple but could no longer even find the link to what I got. Truely I belive many of us would even "pay" for the quality models he makes. I do not know him 'personaly' so I can comment no further on his expressed desire not to go public for the moment, only execpt his wishes not to e-mail him anymore or pass out his e-mail (which I never do without the owner's permission anyway). Hopfully once things settle down for him, and any who have been (most likly unkowingly) pounding his screen with IMs and e-mails, he will return and share some more of those wonderful props with us.

Oh, Poppi; yes, I do know about BCC. However I am not commercial nor do I harvest address and BCC only keeps the recipients from 'those who Don't know how'. I made some enimies when I fist started my little, shamful site and since then try to honor everyone's privacy as much as possible. I kinds shocked a Canadian webmaster friend of mine when I showed her how easily it was to pull out the eleged "hidden recipients". It's kinda like any 'lock', only keeps the honest honest. (thanks to this same webmaster for giving me some of her space that eventually deminished my woe, but I still had to send the new link to all those inquiring folk -> Thanks PC World, FreeSite, NetZero.) Really it was fun while it lasted, but I try to plan better now......whewwwww!

Martin aka marforno has been told about this thread. He and I have been working on projects together for quite sometime now. We are almost ready to release our first one to the MarketPlace. In the meantime, for those interested, we've uploaded a few of the ones that you've seen in the galleries to share with you all. Three of my favorites can be downloaded here: http://martinf.cg-fantasy.com/balcony.zip http://martinf.cg-fantasy.com/temple.zip http://martinf.cg-fantasy.com/patio.zip and two more can be found here at Placebo's web-site: http://www.plassgard.com/ We hope that anyone that downloads these will enjoy using them as much as we've enjoyed putting them together, and hope that you all will stay tuned to our new store opening soon here in the MarketPlace. Thanks! Happy rendering :) Deb and Martin

Thanks Deb and Martin. What a pleasant surprise. I thought I was going to be totallly denied, or at least have to pay dozens of dollars. I finally feel like it's Christmas. :-)

Hey! Thanks Deb, and be sure to thank Martin too! He sent me a copy of his gazebo a while back, but I've so wanted that patio since the first time I saw it... happy now! :)
