Subject: Conforming Bedsheets????

rodpanther ( ) posted Sun, 16 December 2001 at 11:50 AM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 7:52 PM

Hi, i dont know if someone has done anything like this but what i am looking for is a model that resembles a sheet or cover that when applied over a figure lying down it will look like it is covering them correctly, if you follow. Reason im asking is a friend of mine is not very well in hospital and i wanted to make a pic of her in her bed and all her friends and loved ones around her, making her happy and keeping her strong as she goes through the pain. I have already made a model of her, based on her true likeness and she loved it, so did her family and i have a bed model and just need a cover for her to be snuggled up under :) If its not possible, then would it be a usuing a flat surface from poser, putting a texture on it and morphing it some way so it looks like she is under it :) Please help if you can :) God Bless rodpanther

I've yet to see anything like that, or a bed that has it on it. I'm hoping other, but I think you may have to use a sheet and just morph it into the right shape. I really hope your magnet skills are better than mine, or that you have a program you can create the morph in. Hope your friend makes a quick recovery.

you could try "pushing magnets" - use negative values... best wishes for your friend!

Hi rodpanther, I think AZL's craftmans bedroom set has the ability to do this. It is for sale right here on Renderosity. I haven't had a chance to buy it yet, but it is on my list of "next" purchases, so I can't tell you how well it works, but I do have the "room" set and it works just wonderfully. Hope this helps, and that is a very nice thing you want to do for your friend. genny

Thank you you all for your help and i will look forward to hearing how the bedroom set works out :) I love my friend with all my heart and one day i hope to marry her but she lives far away and all i can do for now is be there for her in spirit and soul until we are finally togther. Every day i miss her and love her and wish that God would pass all her pain and sickness to me to heal and save her. But for now i will do all i can to keep her smiling and keep her strong and make her feel loved and special until i can be in her arms :) Thank you all for your kind words and i will pass them on to her, she is a great fan of 3D art and im sure she wont feel so alone and sad knowing that there are people that are here, like myself that care about her :) Tearing up God Bless you all :) rodpanther

This is just what i need Phil :) I will work on the scene and leave the bedding till the very last and then work on that. I read your attached link and you mentioned magnets and conforming etc. I have no idea how they work etc but once i have done the rest i will email you for help if that is okay :) Maybe you can take me through it stage by stage on a reply email if that is no trouble so i can get the scene finished for her :) Once again my heart goes out to all those that have offered help and kind words and i will never forget your kindness you have all shown to me and my sick friend :) Thank you :) God Bless rodpanther

I do remember reading about something called the Morphing Bed. I don't even remember where you can get it or how much it costs. I think it would easily do what you want. Maybe someone else can remember the rest of the details?! ronpanther: I was deeply touched by your story, your love and devotion. We will pray for you.

That is such a neat and romantic story -- I hope everything works out for you.

To clarify the blankets in the AZL Craftsman Bed Set, they use magnets to create simple lumps or tubes over sleeping characters. (And I do stress the word simple a couple of times in the ad.)

This makes it easy to use one or more of any character (Michael, Victoria, P4 Man, P4 Woman, Millenium Kids, etc.) with the blankets and in any position.

On the other hand, these blankets are NOT conforming, for the simple reason that it would be impossible to take into account every lying position for every combination of characters.

Can you make the blankets more conforming (i.e., specific lumps over breasts and hips)? Yes, if you apply more magnets and are willing to fiddle around with the various settings.

You can check it out at the link and I'm including a small thumbnail so you can see how the blanket looks. There are bigger pictures at the link.

P.S. You can download the product's HTML documentation for free at the link location, so you'll know exactly how the blanket works before spending a penny.

Traveler gave away a free magicsheet prop some while ago. It does what you want. Contact him and see if he will let you have a copy.
