So your saying the parts are properly labeled? They are just not translating properly to Poser? Try converting the 3ds to obj with 3d explorer. it often does a better job of conversion than Poser and other apps. They have a demo version that should let you convert the file.____________________________________________________

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the demo version of 3D Exploration does file conversions any longer. To get the file convesion, you need the full blown expensive package. Probably not worth it unless you are going to need to do this all the time. jon

It sounds like it should do the conversion. From the site: There is no functional difference between the evaluation and the registered (licensed) versions of 3D Exploration. Click here for the feature information. At the end of the 30-day evaluation period the following features will be disabled in the trial version: * Batch Conversion and all Exports. * Render to file. * Animation export. * Raytrace rendering.
The evaluation copy did convert the file but unfortunately the material names stayed as Material_1 and so on. I wonder why the names are different in Bryce. I even tried using the grouping tool in Poser to reassign the material but that didn't work. the window looks transparent in preview but becomes opaque when rendered. Mark

Is there any way to find out what material name applies to what part of a 3DS mesh? When in Poser I see them listed as material_1 etc. When I import the same 3DS into Bryce and select the same part it gives me a material name e.g., Front_window which unfortunately doesn't help me since the name is different in Poser. Is there an easier way to do this? In many cases I just want to make windows transparent in Poser but some of the meshes I use have 100 material names making trial and error a real pain. Mark
