I've had to take my FreeStuff contributions down because my new web host doesn't allow remote linking. Can anyone suggest a free host (it has to be free, sorry, I'm broke) that I could re-upload the stuff with? I'd like to get the stuff back up and find a host for the new Elf Warrior character, but as it is, I'm stuck. thanks, -nemo

I wish I could help. I have my own web server, but it's a piece of junk. There's no way it could keep up with a popular item. =(

you can still link to html pages on your web host. the only time you can't link to a html page is if your site or your host is considered competition to renderosity. as far as i know.

Yeah, but my host is going to charge me big $$ for transfer over 2GB a month.... :-< I suspect just the Elf Dude would put me over the limit, tout suite.

I have my freestuff linked to the html page on my site and I havent had any problems.

I did a quick search on google for "free web hosting unlimited bandwidth" and came up with this: http://www.dreamwater.com/ I didn't read it too closely.. but maybe that would be of some use.

how big is the file? I can host the file for you as long as it's not to big.

fauve, do you want to do wide distribution or just to people who would like it? [ i just replied in another thread about the grab while you can mentality. i don't think it's bad in itself, just bad for bandwidth. ;) ] you could just let the interested people know about it. not putting a link in renderosity freestuff really helps keep the bandwidth down. just announcing in the forum and in a render on your gallery makes sure the truly interested and appreciative people will get it, and you keep to your bandwidth restriction :D this is what i'll do in future ;)
