Sorry folks, I posted in Poser forum by mistake. For those who don't know--Eric Wenger 'invented' or created' or whatever--Bryce. Here's a post I just found on the Bryce ng. Not sure if this is where I should put it, so move it if necessary, please. From Eric Wenger, Bryce inventor The recent news about MetaCreation stopping Bryce surprised me as much as many of you. I had been relatively absent from the bryce scene, being very busy with new softwares published by my young company U&I software (MetaSynth, Xx, ArtMatic etc http://www.uisoftware.com ) This time it seems that I have to react. I have recieved many letters similar to the one included below. For one thing, no one seems to know here (and maybe MetaCreation itself forgot) that they DON'T OWN Bryce, as they never bought the rights from me. A letter of Agreement signed with Kai Krause made them the publisher and granted them the rights on only the UI parts designed by Kai and Phil. I didn't protest when they rewrote everything for windows as the royalties were coming. But this does not mean they have the rights. Even in the 4 version still 90% of Bryce is my invention. So I wanted to reassure you, Bryce is not going to die. I still have the source code of Bryce 2 and SuperBryce (that never went out) and some very cool ideas about future version. So in any case, if things gets worst, I will resume working on Bryce and eventually publish a version through U&I. I spend 7 years of my life in research and gathering ideas and algorithms that become Bryce, I'm not going to let my baby die. If there is a juridical Mess, I will simply change the name. There is no way they could prevent me from using the code I WROTE and that they never BOUGHT. If I cannot use Kai's current design I will simply make another UI, I have become quite good at it. Hope this will cheer many of you.

I have seen suggestions that Eric hates developing for PCs and will probably only do a Mac version. How true this is I have no idea. But it is still better than nothing.

Oh, woe--not if you use a PC :-( Diane B

True. Creating only a one sided program will doom it. Bryce is a powerful program that should be accessable to all.

Good news! Well, at least Eric will solve half of the problem. And about Poser?
