Subject: A speed suggestion.

Despite the fact that I'm having cable access, R'osity can be terribly slow at times, especially when there are a lot of people online. Would it be possible that gallery images would open in a separate window without any banners or sidebars? Closing windows is a lot faster than using the back button. Guess that dial-uppers would like this too... Cheers, Kees

The back button should be using your browsers cache to redraw the previous page. Also, you can open the images in a new window yourself using your browsers right-click, "Open in New Window". Down the road, we may look at making "Open Gallery Images in a new Window" as an option in the Member Profile. Thanks for the feedback. Russell

That's what I do now actually "Open In New Window" just so that I won't have to use my back button... plus I'll let one window open while I click on something else... I'll have a few gallery images open at a time, then I just view them, and close the window so that I won't have to go back to the thumbnails each time.

Thanks for the feedback. In my case it's click&hold:"new window with this link" (no right button, no left button either ;-), and this goes a lot faster, indeed.

Cheers, Kees

Somehow, as I was typing that, I was afraid you were going to tell me you had a button-challenged mouse. :) Russell

Hey... I even have a MIDDLE button, and some spiffy wheels! I'm feelin' special... ;)

I think rosity should also get off that 14.4 modem you know they're running on... Especially lately. You may now stone me at your leisure... But don't tar and feather me... This is a new shirt. stands still waiting for 100's of stones and boulders to be thrown at him from the admins and mods

Our hosting facility has DS3 connectivity, which is up to 45 Mbps speeds. The problem is trying to keep the equipment upgrades up with the site's growing popularity. Russell

Don't popularity just suck? But r'osity is worth the wait. Hmm. DS3... Not too familar with that connection. Maybe we need something faster now for the popularity. Jeez, I'd hate to see the bandwidth charges...

As I said, bandwidth isn't the limiting factor right now. It's the hardware the site runs on, which we are continually improving. Russell

Yea but............. Ok, I'll shut-up now ;)

Oh please, I don't mind answering questions about the site at all. We've recently moved to distribute the web load among three web servers in an attempt to speed the site up. We are currently tweaking that setup. Russell
