Subject: Snowy Trees

Does anyone know how to easily create a realistic snow on conifer tree brances look? I am trying to make a winter scene with snow on evergreens. Has anyone tried this with the tree lab in Bryce 5?

Thanks;

Paul

After your done creating the tree in tree lab, what I do is select the tree model and duplicate it and raise the duplicate slightly up. The add a snow texture to the duplicate tree. Hope this helps.

Schurby:

Thanks for your reply. I thought that would work also, but how do you get away from the "just white needles" look? The object that you are applying the snow texture to is still in the shape of needles, not a mound of snow.

Metaballs metaballs, metaballs.

I would do metaballs for a close-up tree, but probably not for say, a forest of snow covered trees. Just a thought. ;)

I tried metaballs. I may not be using them right, but metaballs don't seem to do much (just different shaped blobs). They are also hard to place on branches of trees from tree lab. Thanks for the ideas. Paul
