Subject: Oriental Props/Themes?

creativechaos ( ) posted Thu, 03 January 2002 at 6:20 PM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 6:01 PM

Is there somewhere to get free (preferably) Oriental themed props like a chair or table? I've seen a few (very limited few) in the free stuff section but I think a couple that I found weren't 3ds or obj format. : or is there a way to get a background picture to render decently? (It seems when I use a background picture even at 2000x2000 when I render that big it gets rather pixelated)

Check Lannie's 3D Modelworld, you can get there from here, look at the Web Rings top 15, I think it is page 2 Sharen

There is a free room at www.runtimedna.com it has a screen, table and pots...

It gets pixelated usually because the included textures are low res.

The background wasn't. The background I used was a picture I took of a local park, scanned in at 300dpi saved at 2000x2000 300dpi. It rendered pixelated and quite funny looking at bigger than the original "preview" screen in Poser.

Why not just drop the background in Photoshop?

creativechaos ( ) posted Thu, 03 January 2002 at 8:18 PM

That's what I have been doing actually, I just wanted to try the background picture feature of Poser and found out that it's probably better to just do it in PS. (Although it's nice to be able to have shadows on the background a LOT easier than doing them in PS LOL)

Drop by RunTime DNA, and check its Free Section. At the bottom of the page you'll find "A Beautiful Room For You," a room set which includes a screen, tatami (floor mat), mahogany table, and three oriental vases.

Cyo-Bit L@bo has a Japanese apartment.

Chemical Studios has a tearoom in the Miscellaneous section of its 3D Models download pages.

ISOPage has lovely Asian items - not at home so don't have the link. sorry. :) Also I have some asian walltextures buried in freestuff - just apply them to a 2dface (withtransmap) and stand 'em up as walls. A nice ricepaper wall with adjustable translucency (via transmap) and a dark red textured wall with wood carvings (vaguely based on a temple photo). Remember to keep 'em square though! Lyrra

iso_Page is at: http://www.geocities.co.jp/Milano-Aoyama/7431/index.html Go to the "Product" section, and under the Neo-Japan section, you'll find many Japanese-themed objects: clothes, weapons, rooms, furniture, and other props. And they're very good-looking to boot! Also, if you follow the links on that page, you'll reach the homepages of some of the items' creators, where there are even more things to DL. mr_sanity
