Im trying to make a holiday picture. Im using Allerleirauh's hair, and when I render it in Poser it looks great, but when I export it as a wavefront object and then use the UV mapper, and then import it into bryce, the hair looks horrible. Its all one color with no transparency. Can someone help me? I need to find out how to fix this before Christmas!!!

As far as I can tell. Trying to give you a quick fix. Is when you apply the texture in Bryce. You must also apply the Trans map as well. On the MAC this can be achived by creating an alpha map and saving it as a 32 bit pict. and then adjusting in the materials requester. I hope there is something similar in the PC. If not I guess you can load each map seperatly (texture and trans) in the materials requester. Also play with texture rotation if things look a little screwy. I hope this helps, and sorry for all the miss-spellings, I'm in the middle of xmas stuff too, and writing this in a hurry. James

Why do you use UV Mapper before importing into Bryce? Skip this one and import the object directly into bryce. Now select all the hair props and load the tans map for it.(load the trans map into alpha channel) If you need a tutorial how to apply trans maps in bryce go this link: http://www.mindspring.com/~zonefive/ There is a tutorial how to use tranperancy maps in Bryce. Spike has done a real good tutorial there. Hope that helps you a little bit Chris

Jim Burton's way works great. He added a bump map which I didn't (based on Allie's transmap) and it looks much better than mine. I haven't tried it again but know that it would work. It requires you working in the material lab--you have to sort of reverse the Poser transmap in the little 'leo' area, etc., but it works very well in Bryce. You can't just import an .obj from Poser to Bryce and expect it to be the same. The transmaps are never applied, etc. Diane B
