Subject: Morph targets/Poser Pro Pack on Mac?

Since upgrading to Pro Pack (V3) from Poser 4 on the Mac I can't get Morph targets to 'read' - error message "cannot read poser file" when morph target attempts to load (Used to work fine in Poser 4). I understand that it's a compression problem (caused converting PC morph targets in MacConverter?) - the workaround is to incorporate the morph target in seperate load of Poser 4 in virtual PC and then convert/transfer the CR2 back to Pro Pack on the Mac running natively. This is a pain as you can imagine. Do any other Mac users ( or PC users for that matter) have a solution or am I missing something really simple - quite possible since I often miss the forest for the trees?

To my knowledge, Maconverter is entirely innocent... :-) There are various theories about the nature of the bug, some have claimed it is caused by "empty g lines", some think it is caused by manually removed vector data. Whatever it is, there is no sign of any attempt to fix the bug, so people probably have to live with it. The good news is that you don't have to use VirtualPC - Poser4 is perfectly able to load all morph targets on Mac (and different to PC it is very simple to have both P4 and PPP on the same machine). Just import morph targets with Poser4, and then copy them with Maconstructor (link above) into PPP files.

Thanks - I did not know you could run both on same machine. This simplifies things greatly. Maconverter could be guilty of axe murder and I would never reproach it of any failure - it is a great and indispensible thing! Thanks.

I've been having the same problem. But mac converter is not at fault because some of the files work and some don't. My guess is that it is a pro pak issue. I ended up loading poser for on my machine again just for converting morphs. If anyone solves the problem please share the solution.

It definitely is a PPP problem (I was just kidding above), and the only way to solve it would be to fix PPP. Just to avoid disappointment - you can have both P4 and PPP on your machine, but you should not try to merge it into the same folder. If you install PPP, just make a backup copy of your entire P4 folder, and then copy it back afterwards. On Mac you can simply delete/copy complete Poser folders without affecting the system or the separate copies.
