Subject: Would you like to get faster renders?

Try this ...
( ... or if you are bothered by the little dancing guy when you render ... he slows down your render, ya know!)
Here's how to gid rid of him, ......... heh, heh!

(sample path)
C:Program FilesCurious LabsPoser4Runtimescripts

  1. look in this folder (i.e, "scripts")
  2. locate the file named "status45.AVI"
  3. "rename" the file to "__status45.AVI"
(just add the underscore to the beginning of the file name)
(then you can always find it and change it back if you want to later)

This is the AVI movie that plays when you render. After the file is renamed, Poser can't find it and doesn't waste time playing this little movie while rendering.

Try it, you'll like it.

Another hint to speed up rendering ...
Try setting (all lights) for a "shadow" of 0.5
and a "map" of 64
(the smaller the "map" the less memory used and the faster the render)
I have found that these settings give more realistic shadows, unless you want sharp shadows like a car headlight might give.

cheers,
dr geep ;=]

thanks for the tip and I'll use it today :)

Well, the only problem with reducing shadow map size is that it looks incredibly grainy, and, well, produces poor shadows.

I used to create my own little .avi's and replace the one Poser uses when rendering. I was silly back then ;-) ScottA
