Subject: idea for a new forum

How about an advertising forum? That way the Poser forum would be filled with people looking to learn more about the program. Right now, it seems that half the messages are announcing that something is "available in the marketplace". That gets old. Real quick.

the advertising gallery was shot down... i think because the action would bump people out of a place they were happy with... don't take out the people that are happy to be there, take out the people who are NOT happy to be there... therefore, create a poser ART forum. i'd be happy to follow you wil! :)

a sweet disorder in the dress kindles in clothes a wantoness,
do more bewitch me than when art is too precise in every part

ok... I'll go with that. As long as there's someplace to discuss the program without the intrusion of secondary interests. Good to hear from you :)

I see voodoo's point, but I'm not sure if an advertising gallery is necesary, and since the idea has been brought up before, and shot down, it's probably not going to happen... I'm not sure if it should be called an advertising forum per se either, but what about an Announcements forum... somewhere that you could post Announcements, be they for store products, or free stuff items, or just whatever you wanted to announce, birthdays/anniversary, etc. The hard part at first would be for the existing forum moderators to move 'advertisement' threads to the Announcement forum until people got used to posting them there. I enjoy reading the store announcment threads in the Poser forum, it's nice to know what's coming out, and who's working on what, and I like knowing when people have put up freestuff, or are working on freestuff, so I would definetely frequent a forum devoted to it... But it's also nice to see topics on how to improve your artwork, or how to get more out of your software... shrug

Personally, I don't see why advertising should be in a forum at all. In a "bulletin board" type format, maybe- but isn't that what the marketplace flyer is for? Forums are for topics that can be debated, discussed, or learned from. There are many ways to advertise here- it clutters up the forum I would just ask the mod kindly to put a note at the top of the Poser forum page saying "please advertise your products through regular methods such as the marketplace flyer, e-mail, and banners. This forum is to help people become proficient with the usage of the program. Your cooperation will be appreciated" or similar.

The markeplace flyer is done up by ClintH and only a few items are selected to be highlighted... and you only get 1 banner ad if you're a merchant, unless you have an exlusive item in the marketplace... if you have an exlusive item you get one additional free banner ad, but it can only be used for an exclusive item... Also, I don't know about you, but I'd rather not receive emails from merchants advertising their new products... you can't avoid getting an email, howver you can avoid reading a forum thread if it's an advertisement. Just my thoughts...

Cin- You can avoid reading an advertisement in a forum thread only if you know it's one to begin with. Too many times you don't know until you click on it and find out later.

My bad! I never really read the flyer- I just assumed, and made an ass of poor 'ole "ume"! Well, that's a suggestion for clint, then. How hard would it be to have single-line blubs under a "new item" heading? Sure, have special pics of a few, but at least mention everything. Huh. I'll have to look at one and see how I'd do it. (Hey, I know layout.) ;]
