This might be of interest for a lot of us here. Found it last night and yes, it seems to be true, see the attachted link. There will be a fully functional version of Maya complete for free. It seems to have some limitations in terms of communication with other products and a watermark on renders, but as far as I understand the announcement thats all. And as its free, it sure is worth a try for all of us dreaming of a Maya:) More Infos also at http://www.cgchannel.com

How does Maya compare to Lightwave and 3DMax? Has anyone here tried all three?
