Subject: Too many morph dials? Check out DialMagic at DAZ

gryffnn ( ) posted Thu, 10 January 2002 at 1:58 PM · edited Thu, 13 February 2025 at 12:57 AM

Just wanted to (proudly) let everyone know that my newest product, DialMagic for Millennium figures, is now up at the DAZ store. It's a set of pose files that let you show/hide different groups of head morph dials, so they're easier to find and work with. The "Vic" files display/hide the morph dials for Victoria 1, Victoria 2, the PreSchool and PreTeen Millenium Girls, and the PreSchool and PreTeen Millenium Boys. The "Mich" files display/hide the morph dials for Michael 1 and Michael 2, and the Michael-based figures MikePlus and Boris. DAZ sales on brokered items are limited to two weeks, so the $9.95 price is only through Jan. 21st. Hope everyone likes using them as much as I do.

Ill have a look and if its really working i think it will be very usefull. Most of the time when doing something with viccys face i need only 3 or 4 and its a pain to go trough all of them

If you understand pose files, you can edit these to display your own preferred sorts. There's a brief discussion in the User Guide to get you started. Just be sure to use the internal morph name from the .cr2 file, not the name on the dial, if they're different. As I've said before, pose files really are like magic!

Think l give it a try, have been at daz and it really looks very usefull and with the posibility of making your own preferences much more

I got them today, and they do work like a charm. The Morph Man is impressed! -Trav

This is really a great product. If you hate scrolling through all those parameter dials, then you'll love these poses. Beth

You know a way to hide morph dials? I thought it couldn't be done. WOW! I'll have to check this out. I've been trying to find a way to make pose files control body part visibility but haven't had any success. Have you ever tried that?

One question - what about new morphs? Can it handle new Nose morphs, for example, or is there a way to add them in?

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Thu, 10 January 2002 at 5:21 PM

Well,... hmmm best thing I can suggest to have 2 Mike figures plus your backup stored on CD. Then crate a strip down version with no face morph except the conoller moph for them eyes and eye brows and transfer combined face morphs to him afer you create each new character using morph manager that way you have your character without all the extra baggage.

gryffnn ( ) posted Thu, 10 January 2002 at 6:22 PM

Wow, praise from Traveler! Your tutorials and morphs convinced me to venture into morph making. Crescent, sure you can add your morphs to the pose files. Easiest way is to try the nose one, and note which ones of your new morphs don't show up. (Some might show anyway, if they happen to have names that are already in the pose - after all, there are just so many names you can come up with that fit on those little dials.) As I said, just be sure to use the internal morph name from the .cr2 file, not the name on the dial, if they're different. If you don't know, try the name on the dial and see if it works. Thgeisel, I have to check where the DAZ installers put the user guide. Search for "DialMagicMillenniumGuide.pdf". Beth, I really love using the poses with your wonderful Boris morphs. Any Boris users might want to split up some of the poses, especially mouth-lips and chin-jaw, since Boris has so many.

Can this thing be rearranged for p4 figures? Or is it too closely married to mil figs? Lyrra

Okay, I know I am going to sound like a total newby, but that's okay, I am a newby. Anyway, I took a look at your product, gryffnn, at the DAZ site, but I didn't really understand what it does. Does it allow you to use Vicky morphs on the DAZ ogre? (Or is that morph manager? What is morph manager, anyway?) Mesh Magic mentioned stripping down a model, will your program remove morphs? (For example, remove all the elf ear morphs for Michael if you're just making a character that doesn't require them. I think the character would load faster in the future that way.) I probably don't understand your program at all, but like I said, I'm a newby. Thanks for the help! Jay

Crescent ( ) posted Thu, 10 January 2002 at 8:01 PM

Michael and Victoria have so many morphs it can be difficult to work with them. The dials are not in alphabetical order. Once Michael or Victoria (or the Milenium kids as they are based on Victoria) is loaded, you can click on a Dial Magic file in the Pose directory and only a subset of the morphs will be shown. For example, if you only want to work on Michael's brows, load Michael then click on Dial Magic's Brows Only and just the brow dials show up. You can not move morphs between two completely different meshes, such as Victoria and the Ogre. You could move morphs from the Ogre to Michael because the Ogre is based on the Michael mesh. (If you're talking about the one at Daz.) Morph Manager is the program that will move morphs from one .cr2 character file to another provided that they are using the same underlying mesh. Morph Manager will also remove morphs, IIRC. Yes, guess what I just bought at Daz. Now if I could only get a script to alphabetize morph dials, I'd be an ecstatic camper.

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Thu, 10 January 2002 at 8:21 PM

this would help too renameing them and putting them in an order you understand and find them fast. I like the morph maager thingy he is talking about, sounds like a plan.

dwilmes ( ) posted Thu, 10 January 2002 at 10:54 PM

Crescent, check about 10 messages up, I just posted there about reordering morph dials. CR2Edit will also do everything with morphs that MM does and then some, but MM is free (its in the FreeStuff, Jay, I'm pretty sure) Dan http://www.zenwareonline.com for CR2Edit, ZenPaint, ZenTile, VueMaster and the complete line of Zenware graphics apps
